Mockingjay Part 2 Drowns Out Batman v Superman and Star Wars on Twitter

Tweet, tweet, boys.

How fitting is it that the movie with the name of a bird in its title is the one that gets talked about the most on Twitter. TwitterBirds. I can’t handle this, my joke circuit is overloaded.

But seriously. As Deadline reports, Twitter analyzed all the tweets from over the entire Comic-Con weekend. The results showed that Mockingjay Part 2 beat out Batman v Superman in sheer amount of tweets. True, Mockingjay Part 2 did have a 24-hour head start, but even with a rad new trailer, it wasn’t enough to beat out the Jennifer Lawrence flick.

Surprisingly enough, both of those movies beat out Star Wars, who placed third in amount of tweets from the entire weekend. The folks from Star Wars didn’t have a whole lot to show, but they made what they had count with their behind the scenes reel and Harrison Ford’s choice words for the new cast. It’s most likely that they’re saving the big stuff for Disney’s D23 convention next month.

What does this all mean, though? If nothing else, it’s a pretty neat sign that hey, female-led movies get talked about. Whether this buzz translates into actual sales is another thing, but usually things like this are a big deal. Some movie exec somewhere is probably still hand-wringing over whether to give another female-led franchise their shot.

Here’s your reason, folks.
