Just when you thought the Star Wars news was over: Rian Johnson recently posted a pic to Tumblr (of all places) showing off some in-production work on none other than Maz Kanata. There aren’t a whole lot of details to glean from this photo—that is, if you’re one of those fans who combs over every photo looking for every bit of detail to speculate wildly about things cough cough not that that’s wrong or anything.

It’s nice to know that Maz is going to be back for this next movie. We all already assumed as much (I mean really, how do you not have her back), but confirmation that Lupita Nyong’o will be reprising this role is reassuring for sure. Moreover, it’s nice to know she’ll be back because maybe she’ll finally explain how the hell she got her hands on the Skywalker family heirloom, there. It’s a question that’s plagued many fans since The Force Awakens first hit theaters, and it’s one that’s definitely cast a shadow over just what her relationship with the Force might be. It’s clear she’s Force-sensitive, but what’s her connection and fascination with the Skywalker family? Hmm…

This photo also details just how complicated and difficult it can be to play a motion-captured, CGI character in a movie. If that’s Nyong’o in the mocap suit (and not just someone testing out animations),  then you can see that she has to act in the absence of a lot of context. If those three figures sitting across from her in the director chairs are actors, then it could be they’re reading lines for her to react to and all. But, of course, this is all ridiculous speculation and I have no idea what’s really going on.

All the same: very stoked that Maz will be back.
