New Matt Smith Casting Info for Terminator: Genisys and Harry Potter Spinoff

Because Benedict Cumberbatch has been ahead in the race for FAR TOO LONG!

Matt Smith is an amazing actor, and was often the thing that saved Doctor Who when the writing went a bit off the rails in Series 6. So, it’s a bit of a shame that, because he played such an iconic role, his career might not have had quite the same trajectory as another similar-looking, tall, odd-faced yet inexplicably sexy Brit, Benedict Cumberbatch who, despite playing Sherlock Holmes, has not lacked for work or acclaim. Well, now it’s Matt Smith’s turn, dammit! There are two major projects that have his name attached.

We’ve known that Smith is cast in the upcoming Terminator: Genisys since last year, but what has been kept under wraps has been the role he’ll play in the Terminator universe. Well, according to info from an anonymous source at a test screening, we now know what that role is! And it’s a spoiler so, you know, don’t look unless you really wanna know.

According to Latino Review, Smith will be playing . Latino Review further explained:

That’s pretty badass, if you ask me, and I’d love to see him take that on!

But in new casting news, it seems that Smith is also thisclose to playing magizoologist Newt Scamander in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film, based on J.K. Rowling’s “textbook” from the Harry Potter universe set 80 years before the Harry Potter books and due to begin filming this summer in London.

While nothing has been confirmed, Smith has expressed interest in the role and The Sun (so take this with a grain of salt) reports that he’s been “tipped for the role.”

Between these films, and all the other Smith projects that will be hitting theaters in the coming year(s), like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies among others, Benedict Cumberbatch better keep an eye in his rear view mirror!
