Man visits house his father is redoing, then locates a hidden room with a ‘creepy’ door

A popular TikTok storytime is about people experiencing paranormal activity. However, what Lucas (@lucas_ver22) found at the house his father is redoing is a little different. In a TikTok video, he took viewers through the house’s shabby basement and showed an isolated room that looked eerie.
“Look at this room. Hold on. Let me just show you what’s going on,” Lucas said, focusing on the space. He then turned his attention to the lock on the door, which barely functioned, and to the window inside. “First of all, there’s a lock right there. There’s a lock to lock someone in there, no idea who,” Lucas added, “there’s a window. It’s a window for this guy.”
Lucas then focused on the lower portion of the room’s door and realized it had an opening, probably used to pass food down, like they do in some prison cells. “That brown thing is where they would pass food…under there, bro. Look at that, look at how creepy this door is. Like, look at this room.”
He then went inside the room and noticed a light that looked very old. “This creepy a** light, like what? This is straight from 1800s type of s*** look how creepy,” he said. He then immediately noticed the closet, the speakers on top of it, and the windows with mesh on them, all situated on the same surface as an extension of the closet.
If all that wasn’t strange enough, Lucas said he showed a small tape recorder he had retrieved from the room. Anticipating finding something on the tape recorder, Lucas said, “So we’re gonna see if there’s any f****** like voiceover, like a call, or any video or whatever it is. Um, so I’ll keep you posted.”

Lucas’s video attracted over a hundred comments, with some viewers convinced the house was haunted, echoing opinions about the San Antonio woman’s Hilton stay. One user said, “Nah that’s one of the conjuring homes.” Another user wrote, “Back in the 50s 60s they used to be into voodoo spiritual ritual stuff. They would put the rooms in the basements. They would put locks on the doors so if they had ghosts come through the ouija boards or whatever the demons were trapped in the room.”
Some people suggested that it may have been a scene of crime and urged Lucas to call law enforcement. One user commented, “Call the police and see if anything [was] reported on the house.”
One user mentioned that the room could have been used to confine people with disabilities in the past, as it was considered taboo at the time and people with the condition were publicly frowned upon. A user wrote, “They were called dissapointment rooms for concealing family members with physical or mental disabilities from society (Victoriarian era). Homes weren’t generally built with this, they were an individual addition but basements and attics were the preferential spaces.”
Another said, “If it is a very old house it could be a room for a family member that had a disability unfortunately. Back in the day a lot of people hid children that had disabilities and they never let them out of the house so nobody would know. Sad but true.”
While viewers offered various theories in his comments, Lucas has yet to provide an update. In his video, he did not say whether he thinks the house is haunted, only that it’s creepy. His final conclusion, if and when it arrives, will depend on his observations, and if that’s not enough, he can always compare it to similar cases for context.
