Man picking up rental car in North Carolina told by Enterprise staff the car he reserved was gone, ‘I had to pay to get dropped off here’

An angry customer has accused employees at an Enterprise in North Carolina of giving away the rental car he reserved and leaving him stranded after allegedly telling him they had no other cars to give him. The man took his grievances to TikTok, filming the two workers who claimed they could not help him.

The video shows an apparent example of poor customer service and begins in the middle of the confrontation with the man, who goes by “AirMax365” on TikTok, yelling at the workers, “I booked it, y’all gave my car to somebody else, somebody brought a car back, and you’re not doing anything for me.” The angry customer continued talking as the two workers behind the desk shifted about awkwardly. “I had to pay to get dropped off here, correct, and y’all just telling me I have to leave,” he said.

“So I have to pay to get a car to go back,” the customer tells the workers, who remain silent. Pointing at one of the employees, he accused them of giving away his rental car without checking to see if it had been reserved.

I use Instagram mostly, but figured I’d post this on tiktok so people can see how dirty this is! This was the worst experience of my life! For starters I called to verify there was availability, then I booked the reservation online, traveled from Danville VA to Reidsville NC Enterprise to pickup my rental. I get there and the car that was left, was given to someone else. The white guy in the attached video states he hasn’t had time to looked at the reservations, that’s a horrible excuse. I paid for a non refundable hotel at the beach and they say there’s nothing they can do, they left we stranded walking, said they couldn’t offer me a ride home or anything. The branch manager, which shouldn’t even be a manager said the same thing, no care in the world. The other man was laughing at the situation. I’m going to post this all over social media so people can see how horrible this location is, to treat a customer this way, leaving them stranded when there was a guaranteed reservation online. Haven’t gotten a single call back from the Area Manager on this uncalled for professionalism. I was treated like trash, very unnecessary and unacceptable! #enterprise #dobetter @Enterprise

One of the workers tried to explain that the Enterprise inventory is “behind,” resulting in cars being given away despite being reserved. They also told the customer that they couldn’t give him the car that was brought back to him, as it needed an oil change. In the end, the man was left with no option but to leave frustrated and with no choice but to pay for transportation back to where he came from.

TikTok blames Enterprise management

While a lot of the customer’s fury is directed towards the employees behind the desk, commenters on TikTok pointed the finger elsewhere. One individual, who claimed to be an ex-Enterprise employee, said: “Corporate allows you to book regardless of the inventory.” They also claimed that the situation is often out of the worker’s control and that it’s just as frustrating for them as it is for the customer.

The commenter who claimed to be an ex-employee went on to claim that the branches are often unpredictable and workers prepare as much as possible, but with so many different variables, it’s a challenge. Another person who also claimed to be an ex-employee wrote, “We were always the ones getting yelled at because of how the system and the company operate.”

AirMax365 doesn’t seem to be the only one affected by the alleged unpredictability of Enterprise stock, as other commenters claimed that they had had similar experiences. One customer who claimed they prepaid for a car was apparently told they had overbooked: “I was stuck at an airport in a state thousands of miles from home and they just told me to come back the next day.”

Another said that if something like this happened in a hotel, staff would be apologizing profusely. However, some commenters claimed that the fine print meant that Enterprise didn’t need to honor reservations, something which other viewers called “stupid.”
