Man from California Says He's in a Happy and Equitable Marriage. His Advice for Boys 'Don't Do It'

A happy marriage doesn’t come without sacrifice, as Marathon Broski (@marathonbroski) shared on TikTok. His wife had been experiencing a slew of health issues for the past five years, and his advice for boys who aren’t ready for commitment is plain and simple.

“I am 35 years old in a happy and equitable marriage, and I’m telling you guys, don’t do it,” he told social media in a video that has since gone viral. He continued, “Spare the women the stress, because most of you boys can’t [expletive] handle it.”

He said his wife had two tumors on her brainstem, which were “the least of the issues.” Although his wife was prescribed medication, the man said her body didn’t like it. His wife had gone through pain, tiredness, and fatigue but kept pushing through with life anyway.

“She goes on a run one day and has a really bad fall. She’s got a broken nose and a concussion,” he said. Amidst the turn of events, he said that the doctor had to work on her injuries while managing the two autoimmune diseases she has. Aside from having two, unnamed autoimmune diseases and two tumors, he also disclosed that his wife couldn’t contact her father because he had passed from cancer just a year ago.

“And you’re the man in the room now. You’re jetlagged from a flight coming back from Europe. It was a red-eye. You’re running on no sleep, but you have to be that dude,” the TikTok content creator said. He believes that not all men are capable of bearing the responsibility of caring for a sick partner.

So many people want to get married, but not all are built for marriage

“There are not many of you who are equipped to be that dude,” he argued. He asserted that husbands need to know their wives’ medical history, be familiar with her medication, and remember her allergies. Because the care doesn’t stop at the hospital, and the man would have to be there for his wife in sickness.

“She’s obviously not going to be able to go to work or meet any of the commitments that she’s going to need to meet,” he added. Partners in this emergency should also know whom to contact. From letting her professional connections know to informing her family, he has to know who to call without panicking.

Everyone wants to get married. Few are capable of being husbands. Make sure you’re built for that. #marriage

“And then you have the kids, if you got them. Are you competent enough as a father to facilitate their care and get them to where they need to be without having your wife telling you need to [expletive] do?” the content creator asked. Although he and his wife have no children, they have a pair of cats, which he cares for.

He believes that men should know how to manage the household because their wives might not be able to do so for an indefinite time. Essentially, the home shouldn’t fall apart just because one member of the team is currently out cold. Nevertheless, not all men are built for the commitment, as he pointed out. Some, he said, couldn’t even be bothered to brush their teeth or wash their face.

Nobody plans for their loved ones to be at the E.R.

“If you are her husband and you have power of attorney, it is your duty. It is your responsibility to make sure she’s getting the care that she [expletive] needs,” he said. The content creator also said he doesn’t care about how much money a man makes. He believes that the care he can provide his partner is knowledge that can’t be bought.

He told men they’d better be ready for the day their wife is brought to the E.R. because it’s currently what he’s going through. “It’s very challenging—it’s not fun, it’s absolutely heartbreaking. I have cried about it more than I’m willing to admit. But guess what? This is my duty,” he said. The man also advised women to “be discerning” about choosing a partner, because he believes not all of them are up to the task of marriage. Being able to walk away early is just as important. Take it from this woman, who was proposed to and cheated on by her fiancé on the same day.
