We’re still getting over the news that Pacific Rim 2 has been put on the backburner for the foreseeable future, but director Guillermo del Toro doesn’t seem to be all that fazed.
In fact, he seems to be hard at work considering potential casting options for the follow-up to the first film, tweeting that the Game of Thrones star would be an ideal choice for stepping up to defend us against a kaiju resurgence:
Had lunch with Maisie Williams yesterday. Remarkable. Dammit- if PR2 happens, that girl is getting a Jaeger.

We already know that Maisie is drift-compatible with her GoT co-star, Sophie Turner, but that begs the question of who else she could pilot a Jaeger with. Are there any actors you could envision suiting up alongside Arya Stark? (This has crossover potential written all over it.)
