That's awkward.

A Louisiana woman is sharing her story about getting in trouble for buying cranberry juice.

In a video she posted on her TikTok account, Kate Wilson (@katehallwilson) mentioned that when she was 16 or 17, she brought cranberry juice home because she liked it. After going upstairs to her room, she alleges she received a text from her mother asking her to come down to the kitchen. Wilson says when she got there, she saw her mother was angry but couldn’t understand why. She says she feared her mother would beat her, throw her out, or both.

Her Mother Was Angry at Her for Buying Cranberry Juice

After Wilson’s mother called her downstairs, she states that her mother proceeded to accuse her of being “sleazy” and “sleeping around.” Wilson says the accusations confused her because she spent her time only at home, school, and work.

Wilson says her mother then asked why she had cranberry juice and what she was planning to do with it, to which she replied that she just liked the taste and had no ulterior motives. Wilson says she tried to convince her mother that she had no other intentions with the cranberry juice besides enjoying it because it tasted good. However, Wilson says her mother dismissed her explanation, poured the juice down the sink, and banned her from buying cranberry juice anymore.

Speaking of mothers, this Louisiana man took his mother to court.

Reflecting on the incident, Wilson says in the video’s closing moments, “What do you mean? You’re telling me what I can and can’t buy with my own money. And also, like, cranberry juice just has good benefits no matter what you’re doing. Which I wasn’t doing anything. But I wasn’t allowed to buy cranberry juice because she thought that I was doing something. Make that make sense. Seriously.”

People Are Calling the Mother in the Comments Section of Her Video

Some people in the comments on Wilson’s video have said that they believe her mother’s reaction in the scenario was unnecessary and unwarranted. Some even accused Wilson’s mother of sexualizing her at a young age.
