Louisiana woman was scammed out of $1,100, so she tracks down her scammer who used the money for a luxury cruise, ‘where my money at?’
A Louisiana woman who was allegedly scammed out of her money for a luxury cruise went on a quest for vengeance against the man she believed to be responsible for scamming her. The woman lost over $1,000 after the man took her money and disappeared, but she was able to track him down aboard the luxury cruise they had originally been planning to take together.
In a post on Facebook, Vanessa Phillips claimed she thought she was “booking a cruise destination with a former associate,” whom she claimed to have met on a previous MSC cruise ship in December of last year. The person, whose name was Armonte Wilson, was apparently looking for a partner to sail with so Phillips reached out.
Together, the two made plans for the cruise, but Phillips claims the plans were all fake, including a “FAKE itinerary, FAKE AGENT BOOKING NUMBERS, INVOICES and payments sent totaling near $1100.” She made the payment, but claims that as she made her way to where the ferry was supposed to leave, Wilson stopped responding to her messages and ultimately blocked her.
After some investigation, Phillips claimed that she learned that Wilson had only spent $524 on the cruise for himself. But he had still allegedly taken Phillips’ money.

“HERE’S WHERE THINGS GET CREATIVE,” Phillips says in her Facebook post. She claims she made a “totally separate booking aboard the same ship.” She said she told the representative on the phone, “I will see him on this ship and he is going to gag when I do cause he’s going to Face me and give me my motherfucking money back.”
Phillips claimed she then met another agent onboard the cruise who helped her set up the perfect ambush, the results of which were recorded and shared online.
In the clip, Phillips confronted Wilson as he was chilling in a hot tub. “You thought I wasn’t going to get on here? You took my $1,100. You thought I wasn’t going to make it?” She scolds him. Wilson is heard saying, “I have it,” after she demands he tell her, “Where my money at?”
The tense interaction carried on as Phillips continued to grill the alleged scammer, asking him, “Why did you take $1,100 from me? Why didn’t you put my name on the reservation?” Wilson claims he was at the hospital, which doesn’t exactly explain why he allegedly took her off the reservation.
Phillips repeatedly asks where her money is while Wilson asks her, “Are you gonna put hands on me?” while also denying he stole the money. In her Facebook post, Phillips said, “I never had plans to put my hands on this man,” stating she only wanted to get him to confess.
Armonte Wilson responds
Wilson would later respond with his own version of events on TikTok Live and would later repost them on Instagram. In his video, he shows receipts proving the price he paid for the cruise. He also denied trying to scam Phillips, claiming that he had taken her off the booking after she allegedly disputed Venmo transactions. “Please consider the facts and documentation provided rather than relying solely on portions of the live conversation,” he said on Instagram.
