Live Action Portal Short Is Breathtaking [Video]

Recommended Videos

It’s a pretty widely-held belief that video games just don’t make good movies. Though that may be true, they can make amazing live action shorts as evidenced above. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg and starring Danielle Rayne as Chell, “Portal: No Escape” has a short, tight story, crazy special effects by Jon Chesson and a booming, killer sound track. Now, before you get too excited, let me warn you that the first couple of minutes are slow, but stick with it and think about how you’d feel stuck in that cell forever. Also, there are guards for some reason, but it’s okay because the short, as a whole, is awesome and otherwise faithful to the feel of the universe.

All of you aspiring video game movie directors, take note. This is how your film is supposed to turn out: Respectful to the source material, well-made, and full-out crazy-awesome.
