Remember that short Wonder Woman fan film from a couple years back? That was the work of Rainfall Films, who’ve now madeĀ another short film about one of genre fiction’s notableĀ heroines: Samus Aran of the Metroid game franchise. Jessica Chobot stars as Samus, withĀ America Young performing the motion-capture elements for the numerous impressive action sequences in this compellingĀ short.
Calling this a “fan film” almost seems like a misnomer, given the slick production value and special effects on display, butĀ that term is still technically correct, given that this isn’t an official Nintendo-licensed work. That’s not to say it wouldn’t be nice if Nintendo did get around to backingĀ a Metroid feature filmĀ … but given that Nintendo’s only other forays into the world of film include the Super Mario Brothers movie and Pixels? Perhaps Metroid‘s better off inĀ the capable hands of fans.
