Celebrity Ruby Rose came forward and claimed that she was sexually assaulted by pop star Katy Perry. The alleged assault happened twenty years ago, and Perry’s camp denied Rose’s allegation.

Perry headlined stories because of her comment on Justin Bieber’s Coachella set. One of the posts reporting on Perry gained a random comment from Rose on Threads. The actress wrote, “Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at spice market club at Melbourne. Who gives a shit about what she thinks.”

The shocking allegation garnered traction from other social media users on Threads. One Threads user had the spirit to joke, “She kissed a girl and you didn’t like it?” Rose replied about the disturbing details of the alleged abuse.

“She didn’t kiss me. She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friend’s lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.” When social media users on the platform asked for further explanation, Rose followed up with more information.

The actress wrote, “After it I threw up on her. I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it. Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person. Instead I got attacked by… everyone.”

Rose said that she’s “not interested” in filling a report on the matter even though she claims to have photos and witnesses. But Rose welcomed Perry to ‘sue’ her.

Katy Perry denies Ruby Rose’s story

A representative for Katy Perry issued an official statement on the matter. “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies. Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”

More telling about the situation are the reactions of people about Ruby Rose’s revelation. Many social media users wondered why she would wait 20 years to tell a story. Others accused Rose of being an attention seeker, attributing the timing to being convenient to Perry’s recent virality.

But many victims don’t even speak about their abuse because they fear not being believed by the police. Taking two decades to come forward about abuse shouldn’t be the contention.

Following the story with an open mind

Social media is unforgiving, and Rose does have a history of making big claims in the past. She alleged abusive and unsafe working conditions on the set of Batwoman. The actress left abruptly in 2020, but Warner Bros. claimed that they’d decided not to renew Rose’s contract because of “multiple complaints about workplace behavior.”

Does it put a dent in Rose’s credibility? The truth regarding the issue never truly surfaced, but public opinion soured since Rose spoke about it. Regardless of the truth about Batwoman, it would be disingenuous to dismiss Rose’s immediately over her recent complaints. It’s a separate allegation that has no connection to the previous one.

Moreover, Katy Perry has been accused of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct multiple times in the past by other artists. A model who once appeared in Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ music video accused Perry of exposing his intimate area to her male friends. Although Perry didn’t deny the claim, another friend of hers denied that the event took place.

Similarly, a Georgian TV host also accused Perry of harrassing her at a party. At the moment, none of the supposed victims of Perry took legal action.
