Kansas City woman used a Baby Brezza to make her daughter’s bottle. Then, her daughter got poisoned and hospitalized: ‘I will forever carry mom guilt’
She regrets using the Baby Brezza on her daughter.

Layna Wells (@laynawells) from Kansas City, Missouri, has been using a Baby Brezza to prepare bottles for her three-month-old daughter. After a while, she noticed her daughter’s condition worsening and believes the machine may be to blame.
“I have been unintentionally poisoning my three-month-old daughter for the past five weeks,” Wells told TikTok. Her daughter, Stevie, has been in and out of the hospital for several reasons. She further alleged that the Baby Brezza machine at home has been the main cause of her daughter’s hospitalization.
“Yes, a Baby Brezza is like a Keurig, but for a bottle. And it dispenses the formula into a certain amount of water, and it creates a bottle for a baby,” she explained. For the past five weeks, Wells said she has been feeding Stevie only formula because she could no longer produce breast milk. Although she confirmed that Stevie has previously been hospitalized for neurological issues, Wells noticed that her daughter had started to lose weight. However, Stevie has also allegedly been increasing her formula intake, which made Wells suspect something was wrong.
“She was drinking, like, 50oz a day of formula from the Baby Brezza. Mind you, she’s like, three years old. She should only be averaging about, like, 27 to 35 on a good day of formula, and she was consuming about 50,” Wells said. She added that her daughter kept peeing.
What’s wrong with the Baby Brezza
Wells initially assumed that her baby might be experiencing symptoms of diabetes, so she had her tested. The hospital did Stevie’s EEG to ascertain that her daughter’s prior neurological problems didn’t coincide with the weight loss symptoms. Wells said the EEG results came out perfectly fine. Some issues can take years to diagnose, like this woman who didn’t know she had hearing loss all because of a middle school prank. But even though her daughter’s EEG test results were normal, Wells said her daughter’s blood work came back with a slew of issues.
“And I was talking to my doctor, and he hadn’t heard of the Baby Brezza before. As soon as he left our room after talking with us, he went and Googled it and ended up coming back fifteen minutes later, and showing us all the lawsuits about a Baby Brezza diluting the formula in baby bottles,” Wells alleged. According to ClassAction.org, a proposed class action lawsuit has been filed against Baby Brezza over an alleged manufacturing defect that could dilute baby formula.
“Water for a baby is poison. They should be on formula or breast milk. Otherwise, they shouldn’t be drinking anything else. And she was mostly consuming water,” Wells explained. Cleveland Clinic confirmed that infants under six months should drink only formula or breast milk, as excess water can dilute their blood. The mother added that as soon as they admitted Stevie into the hospital, she gained 68 grams of fat, which her daughter desperately needed.
She doesn’t recommend it
“This is me warning you. A lot of people have great experiences with Baby Brezza, but not all of them are made the exact same. And I unfortunately had to learn the hard way,” Wells said. She also warned other mothers to watch for weight-loss symptoms if they’re using Baby Brezza on their infants.
“She’s innocent. She’s three months old. And I will forever carry mom guilt, even though it wasn’t directly my fault; I should have recognized sooner,” Wells said. However, Wells was relieved that she caught the symptoms just in time, fearing her daughter may have gone into organ failure if she continued using the machine. But unlike Wells, some aren’t lucky enough to save their loved ones in time. A woman from Florida rushed her cat to a vet but was stumped after being charged $700 upfront.
