Imagine not wanting Aimee Lou Wood on your show! Fools!

Fans of Sex Education know that every show is better with Aimee Lou Wood in it. Which is why it is shocking to learn that Mike White had to fight to include her as Chelsea in season 3 of White Lotus.
During an interview with GQ Hype, Wood shared that she learned how Mike White had to fight for her with the network. “Someone told me how much Mike had fought for me,” she said. “They said, ‘It had to be you, no matter what HBO said.’” Wood then went on to share her own negative thoughts about learning that information, equating it to HBO thinking she was “ugly.”
“It was honestly from the nicest place, but my little head goes: ‘HBO didn’t want me.’ And I know why HBO didn’t want me, it’s because I’m ugly. Mike had to say, ‘Please let me have the ugly girl!’” Wood said. “That was the thing that was in my head.” First of all: Aimee Lou Wood is gorgeous so lets jot that down. Second, it is a wild thing to not instantly want her in your show!
Call it my love of Aimee Gibbs but since I watched Aimee and her friends all sit on a bus together to help Aimee overcome her own fears of being assaulted again, I have felt a strong need to love and protect all of Wood’s characters. She’s barely younger than me and yet I feel as if she’s too precious for this world. Which extended to the character of Chelsea in season 3 of White Lotus.
All of that to say that it baffles my mind that anyone would have to fight for her. It should just be a guarantee!
Aimee Lou Wood Is one of the best and now the world knows
Like I said before, watching Wood perform instantly makes you want to take that character and protect them. Which is why she worked so well as Chelsea in season 3 of the hit HBO series. And at this point, I cannot imagine another actress playing her. So I’m glad that White won the battle to get Wood on the show.
But I also don’t love that she (even jokingly) called herself “ugly.” She’s beautiful! And women, especially in Hollywood, are often diminished to their looks. So I hope that Wood (and the world) now knows that she is gorgeous, talented, and will probably make you cry with her characters.
