IFC’s Maron Premieres Friday… Or You Can Just Watch It Right Now

Recommended Videos

Marc Maron hosts one of the best podcasts on the Internet, WTF with Marc Maron, and now he’s hoping to parlay some of that success into the world of television with a new show on IFC. It premieres this Friday night, but because waiting for things is the worst they’ve put the first episode up online already. Check it out right here.

The show has Maron playing a loosely fictionalized version of himself, similar to Louis C.K.’s show Louie, but the two shows are about as different as Maron and C.K.’s comedy. Maron incorporates Maron’s life as a podcaster into the show and the first episode “Dead Possum” features a great interview with Dennis Leary. As the title of the episode suggests, it also features a dead possum.

Frequent listeners to WTF might remember that particular incident in Maron’s life, so it goes to show just how loosely fictionalized Maron really is.

Maron is definitely something you’ll want to check out if you’re a comedy fan, but the show is genuinely funny and accessible for people who aren’t familiar with Maron’s podcast or his previous work. We don’t really rate things on a scale of anything here at Geekosystem, but if we did Maron would rank pretty high.
