‘He’s obviously unstable’: Kash Patel loses cool over question related to his defamation lawsuit, then Todd Blanche comes to his defense

FBI director Kash Patel’s work ethic has always been a major topic of discussion. Based on his behavior trends over the past year, one commonality is that he consistently deflects serious questions when they are directed at him, even though, given his position, he does owe people a certain level of accountability. Another trait widely associated with Patel is that he has developed a reputation for not fulfilling his job responsibilities. For example, he was heavily criticized by Democrats and some Republicans over his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, with many accusing him and his department of not investigating properly.

As more media outlets openly call out politicians and accuse them of lying, some Republicans feel compelled to engage with the press occasionally to put forth their position. Just two days ago, Kash Patel appeared with Acting United States Attorney General Todd Blanche at a Department of Justice press conference, where a reporter asked him to comment on the defamation lawsuit he filed against The Atlantic and journalist Sarah Fitzpatrick concerning an article about him.

Kash Patel snaps at reporter asking questions about his defamation lawsuit

During this recent appearance at a Department of Justice press conference, reporters asked Patel about his defamation lawsuit against The Atlantic, which he filed following an article they published that allegedly portrayed him negatively. The reporter specifically inquired whether he was locked out of computer systems and what he made of that incident. However, instead of answering the question directly, Patel snapped at the journalist.

Patel denied that such an incident occurred and accused the reporter of spreading false information. He stated, “Let’s have a survey. How many of you people believe that’s true?…The problem with you and your baseless reporting is that it is an absolute lie. It was never said. It never happened. And I will serve in this administration as long as the president and the attorney general want me to do so. And every time you guys report false lies, every time you guys raise baseless questions, when we are here to talk about the Southern Poverty Law Center’s $3 million decade-long scheme to fraudulently fleece Americans, you are off topic.”

Todd Blanche defends Kash Patel against a reporter who dared to ask him questions

Following the exchange between Patel and the reporter, Todd Blanche took over the mic and criticized the reporter for his behavior. Blanche told the reporter he was being “extraordinarily rude.”

He added that he understood it’s part of the journalist’s role to question Patel on these matters, but that he must know that he would answer questions if asked directly. When the reporter started to speak again, Blanche interjected and told him that he was now “interrupting” him, and emphasized the need to show respect in such circumstances.
