Her ex allegedly smashed the bones on her face, then got bail: ‘I’m begging the judge to put this man in prison’
He found another victim.

Shanell Torchia (@torchiashanell) said she tried getting away from her abusive ex. But even after being the recipient of his alleged violence, Torchia alleged that the system has failed her and another woman every step of the way.
“I got headbutted in the face by my ex, and he literally tried to take my life in front of my children,” Torchia alleged on TikTok. She said it happened on February 2, 2019. She further claimed that her ex locked her up in the apartment and took her phone. When she regained access to her phone, she tried texting her mother ‘911,’ but accidentally spelled ’91h’ because she was shaking and injured.
Torchia claimed that after the assault, she had a jaw broken in three places, a dislodged nose, and a fracture up to her orbital. She said her ex wasn’t supposed to be in her apartment that day, since she already had an impending case with him. However, he was allowed bail. When she got home, he was waiting for them. Then, her ex allegedly tried to go after one of her children. She stepped in between, and her ex allegedly headbutted her, subsequently causing the injuries.
Torchia managed to escape by threatening to gut her ex using a weapon she found in her apartment. She had to run with her kids to the car, then drive to the police station while her ex pursued her.
“I was on the phone with 911 at this time. And when I was on the phone with 911, I begged them to have a police officer in the parking lot,” she recalled. When she arrived, Torchia claimed no police officer was standing by. She claimed she had to drive in circles to lose her ex before going into the station.
Her ex got off with a slap on the wrist
Even though she misspelled her text, Torchia said her mother was alerted and rushed over to her apartment. She later followed them to the police station and took the children. But they weren’t out of the woods yet. All while her ex was still on the loose, Torchia went to a smaller hospital. She needed treatment for her injuries and hoped her ex wouldn’t find her at the smaller hospital.
“Long story short, they figure out that hey, I have a lot of broken bones in my face, and they charge him with a felony, aggravated assault, causing serious, bodily injury. And he gets arrested, like, two and a half days later. And then, he bails out,” Torchia alleged. Victims of violence can fall through the cracks of a faulty justice system. One woman from Louisiana said that as the victim of alleged child abuse, she ended up in cuffs instead of her mother. But in Torchia’s case, even with multiple parties informed of her brutal case, she alleged that her ex was still allowed bail.
When her ex bailed out, he allegedly went on the run. She has a scheduled court date, and Torchia was getting surgery after surgery because of her injuries. “I’m begging the judge to put this man in prison. Begging the judge to put him in prison. What does he do? Gives him ten days’ grace,” Torchia alleged.
Creating more victims
In that gap, however, Torchia said he shot a 21-year-old woman in the back of the head in his car. She said the victim suffered for a year before succumbing. She continued, “And that f***** should’ve never had ten days.” After the murder, Torchia said her ex was sentenced to life imprisonment. However, she alleged that her felony and aggravated assault case was dropped.
“But I am sick and tired of being a puppet to a system that has been broken, a system that is going to continue to be broken, and a system that you’re not allowed to speak out about because they might have to cover their own a**,” Torchia said. She isn’t the only one who felt disillusioned by law enforcement. Another woman alleged that even as cops saw her bleeding, they chose to arrest her over her ex.
