Hawkman Will Appear Alongside Hawkgirl as a Regular on Legends of Tomorrow

We knew Hawkgirl would feature prominently in the CW’s Arrow/Flash spinoffLegends of Tomorrow, but until now, all we knew about Hawkman was that Falk Hentschel would play him. Now, executive producer Phil Klemmer has confirmed that Hawkman will be much more than a guest appearance.

Klemmer said he’s a regular and that all the show’s regulars will be in every episode, to give you an idea of how much Hawkman to expect. He’ll crossover with Arrow and The Flash, too. This was all confirmed in an interview with DCLegendsTV, wherein Klemmer reassured everyone that Hawkman wouldn’t take away from Hawkgirl’s character:

It doesn’t, because the way we’ve imagined them is that they’ve obviously been reincarnated through the ages together, but the fact that he remembers their previous lives and she doesn’t … it gives them very much like a Bogie & Bacall sort of [relationship].

They’re constantly fighting, and the fact that they’re destined to be in love is something that seems impossible to her.

That’s the kind of sentimentality that we really strive to avoid on this show. The fact that they’re going to be together someday, we try desperately at every moment to disprove that, this is going to be the one time that they decide to, like, shoot each other in the face.

Klemmer also mentioned that the way they plan on tackling all the show’s time travel without getting too heavy handed is by making it fun and irreverent, which is something we’re very much looking forward to from a DC show. Legends of Tomorrow has a still-unannounced premiere date sometime in early 2016.
