Harry Potter Star Says 1 Year of Sharing Hair Brushing Videos has Earned More Than 20 Years as an Actress
After a series of failed auditions she considered OnlyFans, though not in a way you might expect.

A former Harry Potter star has revealed that her OnlyFans account has earned more money than she made in two decades as an actress. Jessie Cave, who played Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter movies, made the revelation in a new interview that comes just over a year after she joined the site.
The 39-year-old turned to OnlyFans after failing to land several auditions early in 2025. While the move caused controversy at the time, Cave’s content does not feature any nudity or sexual content, but instead, she appears fully clothed in all of her videos and focuses on showing off her hair. During an interview with The Times, Cave said that in just over a year on the site she has managed to earn much more than in her career as an actress and comedienne.
Cave posted her first video on OnlyFans in March 2025. Although it caused a stir among Potter fans, she made it very clear that anyone subscribing to her account would be getting videos aimed at people with a hair fetish. As such, her videos have centered on hair brush sounds, styling, and gentle hair brushing. She never appears in underwear or naked, although she occasionally dresses up as her Harry Potter character.
Her “Desperate” Need for Money Led Her to the Site
Cave, who is a mother of four, said making a living at acting while supporting a family proved almost impossible, so she began considering other ways to make a living:
“I couldn’t go and, say, work in a supermarket because I can’t afford the childcare, and also I don’t want people shouting Harry Potter spells at me as I work at Tesco,” she told The Times. “I could retrain but I can’t afford to do a degree. I had a breakdown and I thought, that’s it with acting, I give up. But also we have no money. It was a point of complete desperation.”
When Cave began her online venture, she thought she’d try it for a year. She also wanted to prove that she was not just the “sweet” character she played on screen. However, her decision came at an unexpected cost.
Cave’s OnlyFans Account Saw Her Banned from a Harry Potter Convention
A side effect of opening her OnlyFans account was to find herself being excluded from Harry Potter events due to people associating the website with sexual content.
Last year she said, “I found out that I didn’t get booked for a Harry Potter convention recently, as I’m now doing OnlyFans. They explained it was because it’s a ‘family show and OnlyFans is affiliated with porn’. I’m just playing with my hair!”
Most of that doesn’t matter now to Cave. She revealed that in one day she managed to earn enough to pay off a £15,000 outstanding payment for her accommodation at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year. She reiterated that she “earned more, easily, than my entire acting career within one year”. Subscribers pay $6 a month to have access to Cave’s videos, and can also message her for an additional cost.
The response Cave originally received when announcing her OnlyFans account highlights a prominent issue for the site. Despite many accounts being far from racy, it is explicit content that has become the first thought of most people hearing the name. HBO series Euphoria’s storyline about Sydney Sweeney’s adventures on OnlyFans made many models from the site angry due to its depiction of users. Cave has ignored the initial backlash she received and cites OnlyFans as having “genuinely saved our lives.”
