Florida Woman Didn’t Recommend a Local Nissan Dealership. All of a Sudden, People Started Review Bombing Her Business.

Florida Woman Didn’t Recommend a Local Nissan Dealership. All of a Sudden, People Started Review Bombing Her Business.

Small businesses are sensitive to online reviews. One bad review can easily cast doubt on their reputation and lead to a loss of customers. Tiffany (@sewtiffany), a business owner from Florida, went online to condemn her local Nissan dealership, whose employee allegedly launched a smear campaign against her family business through a barrage of negative reviews.

“Nissan of Cape Coral has really screwed up. My husband and I have built our company from the ground up,” Tiffany, the co-owner of RT Upholstery, said on TikTok. She and her husband, Robert, purchased a van from Nissan Cape Coral. It was not purchased for the family business but for personal use.

“The vehicle had problems since the day we got it,” Tiffany alleged. She further stated that the Cape Coral branch was unable to make the necessary repairs on the van, so she had to bring it to a different dealership to get it fixed. Because of the unsatisfactory experience, Tiffany decided to leave a review.

One bad review for Nissan spiraled into something more

“I leave reviews everywhere I go. So, I leave my review on Nissan of Cape Coral, saying that I don’t recommend this business,” Tiffany said, adding that it wasn’t an “emotional” review but an honest one. At the time, Tiffany stated that Nissan Cape Coral had many reviews on their business page. She argued that people didn’t even need to look at Google Reviews because Nissan is a reputable corporation.

Please do not leave bad reviews on their Google listing on my behalf. What they did to us is wrong, let’s not be like them. Honesty is the best policy ?? @nissan @Nissan USA #capecoral #nissan #florida

“My husband and I only had 18 five-star reviews on our business page, 18 reviews that we literally pour our lives into,” Tiffany said of RT Upholstery. Every customer is entitled to leave a review of a product or a service without threat of retaliation. But that’s the ideal scenario, as can be seen with this woman whose Airbnb host left her a revenge review.

“Blake Taylor, the general manager of Nissan of Cape Coral, comes attacking my business,” Tiffany said. She also accused Taylor’s friends of attacking RT Upholstery by leaving awful reviews on their Google business page.

After seeing the reviews, Robert went to Nissan Cape Coral and confronted Taylor. He told them that they would get an attorney involved if they refused to remedy the situation.

“So many more one-star reviews are coming your way to your business,” Taylor allegedly said. Aside from threatening the small business with further review-bombing, Tiffany suggested that Robert was chased out of the dealership without recompense.

Was he even a customer of their business?

According to Tiffany, Taylor and the other people who have abruptly left bad reviews on their page have not been their clients. Tiffany further alleged that there were accounts using fake names to leave negative comments on their Google page.

“I have personally made a relationship with every single customer that has walked through my doors. I have never had one unhappy customer here,” Tiffany claimed. She showed a record of her customer list, and there were only 309 she kept track of. The record is her proof that the recent reviews did not come from her clients.

Although Tiffany stated that Taylor had already removed his review, she has already taken a screenshot as evidence and has contacted her attorney. Nevertheless, Tiffany’s video went viral and has more than a million views. While Robert and Tiffany did not ask viewers to leave their business good reviews, RT Upholstery now has more than 800 reviews and a perfect five-star rating.

“Everybody has the power of will to do as they please. We shared a review, we shared a story. Everything else is out of our hands,” Robert said.
