Tomorrow is Free RPG Day

Tomorrow, Jun 19th, is Free RPG Day.  And don’t tell me that every day is free rocket powered grenade day.  That would be incorrect.  Because I am talking about Free Role Playing Game Day, not free rocket powered grenade day.  That is a different day.  If indeed it is a day at all.

What is Free RPG Day?  Well, remember Free Comic Book Day?  It’s like that.  But with RPGs.  That is, role playing games.  Not rocket powered grenades.

FRPGD (that’s rolls off the tongue a little less well than MMORPG, don’t you think?) is organized by the Impressions Advertising and Marketing firm.  The firm gets several of the biggest names in table top RPGs to offer some supplements and other bits and bobs for gaming stores to hand out to customers, in the hopes of inspiring “gamers to play a new RPG, which will in turn, create sales through local game stores.”

Most of what will be on offer at your local participating store are modules, a short book that contains everything you need to know to run an hour or so of a game, and see if you like it.  If you’re not a game master, there’s still good reason to show up: Chessex and Q-Workshop are offering dice.  If you’ve never seen a set of Q-Workshop’s intricately carved dice, you should really check them out.  Everybody needs more dice.

Everybody.

If you’d like to attend, you can find the closest participating store right here, by entering your address.

Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
