Former Prince Andrew Is Spotted With a Massive Bruise Across His Face, and His Team Is Refusing to Say How It Got There

Lots of questions.

Prince Andrew was spotted with a massive bruise covering half his cheek this week, and his team is refusing to explain how it happened. According to Fox News, the former Duke of York was photographed behind the wheel near his Marsh Farm home on the Sandringham estate, showing off a deep purple mark stretching from his right temple down to his cheek. The injury is hard to miss, and the lack of explanation is only making people more curious.

A source close to Andrew told reporters the bruise isn’t a “cause for concern” and that there’s been “no drama.” But when pressed for details, the source shut down the conversation, citing medical confidentiality. Buckingham Palace isn’t commenting either, since Andrew is no longer a working royal.

British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard weighed in, saying, “We are advised there is no cause for concern or need for a ‘hoo ha.’ However, tongues are obviously wagging.” That’s putting it mildly.

When a public figure shows up with such an injury, people will talk

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich didn’t hold back, calling the whole situation “rather ludicrous.” She said, “We can clearly see a ghastly, huge bruise. It was characterized as something ‘routine’ medically, but that’s difficult to imagine. Sadly, this obfuscation doesn’t bode well for public trust. If it was due to a medical procedure, just tell us what it was.”

The timing of this bruise is especially interesting because Andrew has been lying low since a security scare last month. Norfolk Police responded to reports of a man acting “in an intimidating manner” near Andrew’s home. The suspect, 39-year-old Alex Jenkinson from Stowmarket, Suffolk, was later charged with two counts of using threatening or abusive behavior and failing to provide a blood sample while in custody.

According to Daily Express, the accused allegedly approached Andrew while wearing a balaclava and shouted at him as the former prince walked his dogs. Andrew reportedly had to flee the scene. The encounter explains why people are wondering if this bruise is connected to some kind of altercation.

Andrew’s life has been anything but quiet lately

He was evicted from his 30-room mansion, Royal Lodge, in October 2025 and has been living at Sandringham ever since. He initially stayed at Prince Philip’s Wood Farm before moving to Marsh Farm in April. The move came after years of controversy, including his ties to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In February, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office but was later released under investigation. He has denied any wrongdoing, but the legal troubles and public scrutiny haven’t gone away.

The National Audit Office recently revealed that Andrew made money by subletting three cottages on the estate where he lived rent-free for over two decades. The lease for Royal Lodge, signed in 2003, included eight cottages, three of which he was allowed to sublet. The office didn’t disclose how much he earned from the sublets, but Labour member of the House of Lords Margaret Hodge called the omission “concerning.”

The bruise isn’t the first time Andrew’s health has been a topic of conversation

Author Andrew Lownie, who wrote the book Entitled, described the former prince as a “narcissist” who doesn’t seem to grasp the seriousness of his situation. Lownie said, “The information I’m getting from people close to him is that he doesn’t think he’s going to be charged [after being arrested in February]. He’s actually quite cocky.”

Lownie added, “He’s much more interested in rather trivial questions, like where he’s going to park his car, and [whether] he’s going to be able to go riding. He doesn’t seem to have taken on the enormity of the position that he’s in.”

The bruise itself is hard to ignore. Royal broadcaster Ian Pelham Turner said, “The reported medical condition said to be behind the bruise is going to create more speculation about the accident-prone former prince.” And he’s not wrong. Andrew has had his fair share of mishaps over the years, and this latest injury is just adding to the list.

For now, Andrew’s team is staying quiet, and the public is left to speculate. If this was just a minor medical issue, it would be easy to clear the air. But the fact that they’re not saying anything is only making people wonder what really happened. In a world where every move is scrutinized, this kind of secrecy is bound to raise eyebrows.
