‘Not the final destination vibes, omg!’: California Food4Less shopper buys Jiffy cornbread mix. Then she notices something strange after baking

Jiffy cornbread mix is a classic household staple. However, one shopper says her latest box was less than satisfactory as she found foreign objects in her cornbread after baking.
In a viral 32-second TikTok, @.proverbs31woman shows the open box of cornbread. She then shows her baked cornbread in a baking pan. As she zooms in, the light catches on several shards of glass and makes them sparkle.
“Jiffy cornbread full of glass,” she writes in an on-screen caption. She indicated in a comment that she purchased the mix at Food4Less.
‘Looks like you just baked yourself $1 million’
In the comments section, several commenters said the TikToker should expect a payday. Others were more skeptical of the situation.
User DeSantis Bryant asked, “Just one question, you mean to say you didn’t see that glass while you were mixing that jiffy bread,?”
A second viewer similarly questioned, “So you’re saying you didn’t notice until you baked it .. mhm”
‘I done seen 6 different videos’
The Mary Sue was unable to find evidence of other customers finding glass in their Jiffy cornbread mix. However, one Facebook user warned others that it’s a growing problem in a Monday post.
“Y’all be careful jiffy cornbread mix got lil glass pieces in it make sure y’all check it its a recall I done seen 6 different videos of people showing it after it came out the oven,” they wrote.
The Mary Sue was not able to find any evidence of a recall on Jiffy cornbread for glass fragments.

What do I do if I find glass in my Jiffy cornbread?
According to FoodSafety.gov, you should “Phone the FDA Main Emergency Number at 888-SAFEFOOD (888-723-3366) or report online through the FDA Safety Reporting Portal.”
The Mary Sue contacted the TikToker via comment and direct message. It contacted Jiffy via contact form.
Update June 13, 2025: In a nearly six-minute follow-up video, the TikToker, Jewel, 44, says she didn’t notice the glass in the mix before baking because she was mixing six boxes of Jiffy in a plastic rather than a metal bowl, so she didn’t hear the shards clinking as she stirred. She was also cooking other dishes, babysitting, and preparing for a wedding, so she was “overwhelmed.”
She also notes that the shards were not large, as they may have appeared on camera. “They’re small like sprinkles,” she says.
Responding to commenters who said she should’ve made the cornbread from scratch, she explains that she usually does, but she used what her sister had on hand at the time. She has not bought Jiffy since. She says she threw away the cornbread and contacted Jiffy.
To commenters who say she put the glass in herself, she responds that she is a Godly woman who does not lie, especially not for money. There were also skeptics who questioned how the glass rose to the top, and she admitted that she didn’t know but thanked God for allowing it to happen so she could see the shards and protect herself and her family from eating them.
She also says she is not the only customer to find glass in her cornbread. She says she considered starting a class-action since she’s “all for the people,” but it would still have to be an honest endeavor. She’s not interested in lying and saying she ate the cornbread and got sick, as some suggested.
In a direct message exchange with The Mary Sue, she revealed that since she has not heard back from Jiffy, she calls “almost every day.” However, she did not report the issue to the Food4Less in Sereno, California, where she bought it.
She added, “I’m tired of people going on my page saying I’m lying and I put the glass there I don’t think no one have glass laying around it’s not about money cause I didn’t try to start a lawsuit just trying to tell everyone to be careful that’s all I’m a pure honest woman and if they have question watch the other video.”
