Washington Woman Crashes Out on Her Sister for Stalking Her Online: ‘It’s Still Your Responsibility Not to be an Asshole’

Love isn’t enough to keep a family together. Lindsay (@notlindsaylohan_) from Washington had gone no contact with her sister for a decade. But recently, her sister has found her social media accounts, tried stalking her online, and turned Lindsay into the target of her delusions.
She prefaced her story by saying that her older sister has schizophrenia. The woman is not mentally well and has been prescribed medication. Nevertheless, Lindsay felt the need to vent after her stressful experience.
“I haven’t spoken to my sister in ten years. I haven’t seen her in ten years,” Lindsay shared on TikTok. She alleged that her sister had been emotionally and physically abusive growing up. For those reasons, Lindsay thought it would be best to keep her sister out of her life.
Lindsay had even blocked her older sister on social media for years, just for her peace of mind.
“If you give her an inch, she will take five miles,” Lindsay explained. But while at work, Lindsay took a break and opened Instagram. She saw that for some reason, her sister was now following her on Instagram.
She found it odd, because her Instagram was once private. Lindsay had no clue how long her sister had access to her Instagram account, but it didn’t matter. She had already seen part of Lindsay’s life, which is enough to cause a problem.
Lindsay’s first course of action was to warn her mother that her sister had found her Instagram account. She said that it could trigger her sister. Not even a minute after that, her older sister had already called their father about Lindsay.
Stalking her sister online
Most of the family does not speak to Lindsay’s sister, except for their father. He would hand-deliver her medication every week in small doses because she could resort to doing something that would lead to a psych hold.
“She is going off about seeing photos from my wedding,” Lindsay explained, among other complaints. Her sister also got upset that their father went with Lindsay to Seafair. From there, her sister started getting nosy, asking their father about what she does for a living. Essentially, it’s information that she shouldn’t be privy to because Lindsay does not want a relationship with her.
Thankfully, their father upheld Lindsay’s stance and denied the information from her older sister.
But her sister is persistent and found Lindsay on LinkedIn. Lindsay managed to block her sister, including six other fake accounts she made just to keep stalking her.
Her sister as an unreliable narrator
“I have been the center of her delusions multiple times in my life. I think it’s because I’m the one person who was never a doormat to her. I always had a nice and shiny spine,” Lindsay said of her sister. Because she didn’t appease her, their relationship had an air of animosity to it.
When her sister got divorced, Lindsay said that her sister accused her of having an affair with him. Her sister also believes that Lindsay lives on the coast of California in a mansion, which she also denied. Outside of targeting Lindsay, her sister also had several other delusions.
She was once convinced that the FBI was listening to her conversations from a lighter in their mother’s old Ford Focus. Another time, she believed she was dating a famous NHL hockey player. Lindsay said her sister also resorted to stalking and harassing this player. But the point is that her sister is not a reliable narrator, and she is unfortunately unwell.
She said her sister is usually harmless—save for the times she’s called the cops on her family or that time she called SWAT on herself. But Lindsay felt frustrated that she had to tell her boss and HR about her sister’s situation, giving them a heads-up that her sister might call and tell them tall tales.
Mental illness is not an excuse for bad behavior
“Do you know how many times in my life I’ve had to do that?” She vented on TikTok. Lindsay then said that her sister had also tried to get her fired before.
“Many of us have mental health issues.” Lindsay said she has depression and PTSD. But she continued, “But regardless of whether or not you have mental health issues, it’s still your responsibility not to be an asshole.”
All Lindsay is hoping for is that her sister takes accountability for her actions. Living with a disorder is a challenge, but grappling with it will always be an individual’s responsibility.
