Three days before her wedding, her fiancé told her he had feelings for his best friend. Then, he called the event off: ‘I’m having extreme cold feet’
She wanted to marry him, but he had other plans in mind.

Grace (@stateofgrace0013) was engaged for five years. She thought she’d march down the aisle to her fiancé. But three days before their wedding, Grace was blindsided when her fiancé made an unexpected confession.
Grace told TikTok that, looking back, she now believes the relationship was manipulative. But back then, Grace was eager to marry her fiancé, whom she called “Tyler,” and even DIY’d her wedding. A week before their wedding, Grace went home and noticed her fiancé’s car outside earlier than usual. He told her to get in the house, and she was worried, thinking he was having a panic attack.
Instead, her fiancé sat her down. Then, he allegedly said, “I’m having extremely cold feet.” Immediately, Grace felt chills and tried to stay as calm as she could. Then he allegedly added that he had feelings for his female friend, whom Grace nicknamed “Jess.” Similarly, Jess also confessed her feelings for him. Grace’s fiancé allegedly defended himself, saying nothing happened between him and Jess and that they only cuddled in the movie theater because he felt “cold.”
The best friend she didn’t worry about
“Well, that’s not okay,” Grace commented. To make matters worse, Tyler allegedly told her not to worry because Jess didn’t want to date and that she only wanted to have intimate relations with him. When Grace asked why he felt that way about Jess, he explained that Jess was always there for him. He also felt heard and supported by Jess. Grace thought she did the same for him and asked if he was in love with her. He denied it and said he still wanted to be with Grace. She also claimed that he still wanted to get married within the next week.
Grace trusted her fiancé, even though Jess had shown him interest in the past. However, Grace told him not to speak to Jess anymore, or she would feel upset. They agreed to start couples therapy immediately, and he agreed but told Jess to work on her anger. To appease him, she agreed, even though she wasn’t fully convinced that she had any major issues.
But Grace didn’t know then that Tyler had messaged a friend out of state about his feelings for Jess. Contrary to what he told Grace, Tyler allegedly told the friend that he was “in love” with Jess for years and felt miserable with his fiancée. Another friend reached out to Tyler and threatened to tell Grace about his spiel if he didn’t tell her soon. Surprisingly, Grace said Tyler had let her read all his text messages to the friend. Nevertheless, she ignored the warning signs, like this other woman who regretted not being a runaway bride.
Tyler allegedly reasoned that he was trying to reconnect with a friend and embellished his words. Grace forgave it, saying, “I want to marry this man.” She even defended him to her other friends. Despite her faith in him, Tyler allegedly told Grace he wanted time alone to think for himself and that he would stay at his parents’ house. It was only a few days before the wedding, and Grace agreed.
He stopped the wedding
She later found out he was staying at a hotel across from their apartment. Grace couldn’t confirm whether he was with Jess, but later he came home upset, accusing her of “invading” his privacy. They immediately had a therapy session the next day, and Grace believed they just needed a mediator.
When the counselor asked whether they still wanted to get married, Grace said she did. In a twist, Tyler allegedly said, “Today, I don’t.” The counselor told them to think about it, but Tyler allegedly went on to see Jess and cancel the wedding anyway. Their relationship didn’t survive, unlike another couple whose wedding was also canceled three days before.
Regardless, Jess was grateful for the experience because it helped her get to know herself better. Five years after the wreck, Jess shared that she now has her own family and is in a much better place.
