Evangeline Lilly And Corey Stoll’s Ant-Man Roles Revealed

A Van Dyne by any other name would smell as sweet.

Marvel’s presentation in Hall H yesterday finally revealed the roles that Corey Stoll and Tauriel Evangeline Lilly will play in Ant-Man–semi-spoilers to follow, naturally.

Collider reports that Stoll will portray the movie’s big baddie Darren Cross, aka Yellowjacket. Kevin Feige spoke briefly at the panel about the complexity Stoll will need to bring to the villainous role, saying  “As a major part of the Ant-Man ensemble, we all wanted an actor who could be both cunning and sympathetic, and help create a character as dynamic as Marvel’s best antagonists.”

Evangeline Lilly will be playing Paul Rudd’s love interest (shocker). Feige confirmed that Lilly will be Hope Van Dyne, the daughter of Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). Hope will undoubtedly remind comic fans of Janet Van Dyne, leading to speculation that Lilly may be the Wasp’s daughter–I’m optimistic that the presence of any Van Dyne will lead to Lilly kicking ass as well. Feige, of course, had warm words for Ant-Man‘s female lead:

We’ve been fans of Evangeline for years, and couldn’t be more pleased that she’s agreed to join us on Ant-Man’s journey to the big screen. We look forward to audiences learning more about her character when she joins forces with Hank Pym and Scott Lang in 2015.

In this production’s post-Wright stages it’s hard to talk about the movie without a certain amount of trepidation, especially after the recent departure of several major cast members. Personally though I think yesterday’s panel bodes well, at least for Lilly. Are you guys excited to learn more about Hope?
