DoorDash customer thinks she’s getting a $200 credit, then realizes the caller is trying to steal $500 from her card
Her real Dasher was delivering the food while the caller was still explaining why the order supposedly had a problem.

A Louisiana DoorDash customer says someone claiming to work for the company called while her Wendy’s order was still in progress and told her there was a technical problem. Minutes later, five separate $100 DoorDash charges began hitting her locked Cash App card.
Myy Gill wrote on Facebook that she ordered a Parmesan Caesar salad at 1:35 p.m. on Oct. 6. About 10 minutes later, the caller told her the Dasher assigned to the order would need to be manually replaced, even though Gill could still see that same driver waiting at Wendy’s through the app.
Then the explanation started falling apart in real time. Gill said her Dasher left the restaurant, drove to her home and delivered the food at 1:51 p.m. while the caller was still talking about a supposed problem with the order. Four minutes later, the first $100 charge appeared.
Her food showed up while ‘support’ was still explaining the problem
Gill’s Wendy’s receipt shows an $8.83 DoorDash order from a restaurant in Minden, Louisiana. She said the caller told her the app could make it look like the Dasher had picked up the food even though the order had supposedly not been collected.
Gill could watch the opposite happening. The driver left Wendy’s, headed toward her home and completed the delivery while she was still on the phone.
The caller then shifted away from the order itself. Gill said he asked about other problems she had experienced with DoorDash and offered her a $100 account credit plus another $100 DoorDash gift card after she mentioned previous complaints.
Next came a request to verify her account information. At 1:49 p.m., Gill received a six-digit DoorDash code with a warning that read, “DO NOT share this code with anyone. DoorDash will NEVER ask you for this code.”
DoorDash tells customers to enter verification codes through its platform when prompted. The company also advises users who see unauthorized activity to change their password and contact support.
Four minutes later, the $100 charges started
Gill’s locked Cash App card began showing DoorDash transactions at 1:55 p.m., declining five separate $100 charges over the next two minutes. Two texts sent at 1:55 p.m. also contained verification codes for separate $100 DoorDash gift card purchases that Gill said she never tried to make.
Gill said she confronted the caller after seeing the transactions. According to her post, he claimed they were part of a security check, but she ended the call and reported what happened to DoorDash.
The screenshots do not identify who made the call or attempted the purchases, and The Mary Sue has not independently verified that part of Gill’s account. They do show how quickly the activity followed, with the verification message arriving at 1:49 p.m., the delivery completing at 1:51 p.m. and the first attempted charges appearing four minutes later.
Gill’s account has one detail in common with another reported DoorDash scam. In that case, a customer said a caller knew details about her active order before asking for a verification code, which helped make the call seem legitimate at first.
The gift card purchases also fit a pattern seen in other scams. One customer said scammers used her Klarna account to buy $1,000 in DoorDash gift cards, similar to the $100 gift card attempts Gill says appeared while she was still dealing with the caller.
Gill said her locked card stopped all five charges. What still is not clear is how the call happened while her real DoorDash order was in progress, which is what made it seem legitimate at first.
The Mary Sue reached out to Gill and DoorDash for comment. Neither had responded by publication, and this article will be updated if we hear back.
