Donald Trump Admitted He is Not Worried About Inflation, in Fact, He Loves It

Inflation, is, in fact, not good

In a clip going viral on social media, Donald Trump can be seen admitting he loves the inflation the US economy is experiencing and isn’t too worried about it after being asked whether he’s concerned. While a high inflation economy is generally considered bad for the public, Donald Trump seems unconcerned by it. Or at least, he claims to be.

In May 2026, the annual inflation rate in the United States rose to 4.2 percent, the highest it has been since April 2023, when it was 3.8% (via Trading Economics). The source also attributes this inflation mainly to rising gas prices, caused by the US’s conflict with Iran, which led to restrictions on the US’s access to the Strait of Hormuz.

US citizens say inflation bad, but Trump says inflation good

In a clip that’s currently going viral on X, Donald Trump states that he likes, sorry, loves the inflation the US economy is currently experiencing, although US citizens would likely disagree.

When asked if he’s concerned about inflation, Trump said: “I love the inflation. You know why?” He then didn’t really answer why, but shifted to discussing how the US has been taking out barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz without Iran’s knowledge up until that very moment. He also added that before the US attacked Iran over suspicions of nuclear weapons development, he had told his closest aides that, despite everything working well for the US, including the economy, they would need to get involved with Iran because they possessed nuclear power and were inclined to attack the US. He also revealed that they weren’t too happy upon receiving the news.

People are not too thrilled about Trump’s inflation comment

Donald Trump’s comments about inflation in the US economy haven’t been well-received by many people. While Speaker Mike Johnson insists that Trump’s remarks were taken out of context, most individuals are choosing to interpret his comments at face value and criticize them.

According to an article published by The Hill on June 10, 2026, Andrew Mamo, a Democratic campaign adviser following Trump’s inflation comment, stated, “Every day the president says he loves something Americans clearly hate is a good day for Democrats.” Adam Kinzinger, a former United States Representative aligned with the Republican Party and one of Trump’s strongest critics, also weighed in on Trump’s comments about inflation. He wrote in a Substack article on June 11, 2026, “He said it with the particular ease of a man who has never once had to choose between filling a gas tank and buying groceries. He said it in a room where the walls are hung with gold curtains and the furniture has been reupholstered to his specifications. And then he explained that prices would fall “like a rock” once the Iran war ended, as though the war were something that had happened to him rather than something he started.”
