My God, David Harbour Looks Perfect as Hellboy

Everyone was pretty sad—and we will all continue to be—when it turned out the next Hellboy would be a fresh start and switch out original star Ron Perlman for Stranger Things‘ David Harbour. If there was one way to help soothe that pain, it was with this new image of Harbour in the role, looking extremely Perlman-esque.

The image was released yesterday, along with a second look and a release date, placing the reboot’s debut on January 11, 2019. Harbour was always going to look somewhat like Perlman simply because they’re playing the same character, but I don’t think any of us were ready for the uncanny resemblance in this image—nor for how jacked good ol’ Chief Hopper was going to get for this role.

It’s another encouraging sign for a movie that already managed to hit a major stumbling block in the whitewashed casting of Ed Skrein as Major Ben Daimio. While turning that situation around was due to Skrein himself (with Daniel Dae Kim now in talks to join), the production seems to be headed in the right direction all around, at least as much as we can judge at this early point.
