Daniel Craig seems more than ready to give up the mantle of James Bond; he recently stated that he’d rather die than play the part again, and today, when Red Bulletin asked him what people can learn from a man like James Bond, Craig paused before responding: “Nothing.” Ice cold! But also pretty amazing.

Craig’s comments through the interview are commendable, actually; the whole conversation is packed with moments in which Craig shuts down the interviewer’s over-enthusiastic Bond fandom. This journalist clearly came prepared with questions about how great James Bond is, and they just weren’t able to change course midway through — even though Daniel Craig repeatedly rebuffs every single fannish remark.

When the interviewer pointed out Bond’s “way with the ladies,” Craig interrupted, “But let’s not forget that he’s actually a misogynist.” Hasn’t that changed in the recent films? Craig says, “That’s because we’ve surrounded him with very strong women who have no problem putting him in his place.”

Next comes the interview’s best moment of all, when the interviewer asks, “And this time you’ve gone one better, showing 007 succumbing to the charms of an older woman.” Craig responds:

I think you mean the charms of a woman his own age. We’re talking about Monica Bellucci, for heaven’s sake. When someone like that wants to be a Bond girl, you just count yourself lucky!

Damn straight! What do you think about Daniel Craig’s give-zero-fucks press tour for Spectre?
