Daisy Ridley Literally Carries the Skywalker Legacy on Her Back in Internet-Breaking Instagram Photo

Plus: Frank Oz Episode VIII rumors!

Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley have to be fully aware about the power they wield over our collective Feels, right? Like, they just have to know how hecked up on The Feels we get every time they post a photo, which doubles in effect when they post a photo of them together. So imagine how hecked up we got when Hamill posted this… work of art in honor of Ridley’s birthday, featuring the both of them playing around at the film studio. I mean… I don’t know if anyone could have possibly made a better photo if they tried. Look: you’ve got Hamill riding on Ridley’s back just like Yoda riding on Luke’s in Empire Strikes Back. Look at their faces. They know how much this is going to mess the internet up. They know.

Can we also talk about how great it is that Ridley can totally give Hamill a piggy back ride? Check out the look on her face. She’s like, “Nah, I got this.” Yes you do, Ridley. Yes. You. Do.

Perhaps even more interesting is a rumor that’s come out of Pinewood Studios, where this photo was shot. Apparently Frank freakin’ Oz is on his way to the set. There are no confirmations, so this is a rumor at best, but having Oz around is a pretty big deal. You’ll remember that Oz voiced and puppet-piloted Yoda. According to Making Star Wars, there were more rumors floating around that Pinewood Studios holds a set recreation of Ahch-To, the planet Luke had been hiding on, built to accommodate a puppet. Is it possible that Oz is back to reprise his role as Yoda’s Force ghost?

Given the fact that The Force Awakens has already set a bit of a precedent using past major characters in small, but incredibly effective ways (see: Obi-Wan’s voice over after Rey’s lightsaber hallucination), it’s possible Oz is in town to record some similar Force ghost echoes. Or, he could just be visiting a few pals cause he’s got some time off or something. Who knows? Either way, it’s fun to think about Yoda riding atop Hamill’s back while Ridley’s holding them both. Talk about carrying on a legacy… phew.
