Atlanta Woman Cancels Vet Appointment Only to Receive a Call Later That Day Telling Her to Come Pick Up Her Dog, ‘He’s Not There!’

We should all be able to rely on our vets to take good care of our pets, but one woman on TikTok realized that her local vet may not be as competent as she first thought after a concerning phone call exposed an apparent lack of organization.
Atlanta-based TikToker “@nessajoi62” was left wondering, “Do I need to change vets?!!” after a mix-up involving her Pomeranian named Romeo. Joi explained that she had to cancel her dog’s vet appointment only to receive a call later that day from the very same vet, telling her to come and pick her dog up.
Of course, Joi knew Romeo didn’t need to be picked up from the vet because she canceled her appointment, which she apparently tried to explain to the person at the vet. However, the confused caller insisted that Romeo was at the vet and ready for pickup, even asking Joi whether a partner or someone else had dropped the dog off without her knowledge. “I said, ’ma’am, I’m looking at my dog right now, currently, in his face.’”
The vet mix-up left Joi questioning the competency of the vets
Even after Joi apparently explained the situation to the vet, they still asked her if her dog was a white poodle, to which Joi replied, “No, he’s a white Pomeranian!” While she admitted that mistakes happen from time to time, the apparent “doubling down” when Joi said she clearly had her dog at home was cause for concern over whether the vets would be able to care for her dog.
“Now I’m concerned because what dog do y’all have there under my name?” She was left wondering if she had been charged for a procedure done on another dog: “I know they better not have charged anything under my name, under my dog’s plan.” In the caption, she also questioned how the mix-up even happened, as Romeo’s “picture is on his profile.”
In an update video, Joi claimed the vets called her and explained that the systems were down, which may have been what caused the mix-up. Either way, she confirmed that she did not take her dog to the appointment, which had been rescheduled, and people on TikTok wholeheartedly agreed with her decision. “I’d be changing vets, they clearly don’t know what they’re doing,” one person wrote.
Commenters also expressed concern for the other dog’s well-being, wondering if the poodle had been given the correct treatment. They asked, “What procedure was your dog due because it sounds like they carried [it] out on another dog.” Others joked, writing, “Romeo is the victim of identity theft.” Regardless, it seems Joi has since decided to find a new vet for Romeo.
