In a revamped series of Archie comics from writers Alex Segura and Matt Rosenberg and artist Joe Eisma, TheĀ Archies will meet lots of real life rock ‘n’ roll bands, with the first being indie band CHVRCHES.

MTV, which features some early sketches from the issue, reports:

“The band ā€” which consists of front woman Lauren Mayberry and multi-instrumentalists Iain Cook and Martin Doherty ā€” will make a brief appearance at the end ofĀ The Archies #2, then feature fully in the following issue as mentors to The Archies, who find themselves at a major crossroads inĀ The Archies #3.”

Segura told MTV the team felt CHVRCHES’ “comic book energy” fit perfectly with the Archie series, saying “One of the first bands Matt and I thought of was Chvrches just because they’ve got such a modern, fun vibe and we’re both fans of the music.”

Crossovers in Archie Comics are nothing new, and we’ve seen the gang meet music icons before! InĀ Archie Meets Ramones, the Archies are dealing with a bit of a musical slump, and time travel to 1976 with the help of Sabrina to learn about rock ‘n’ roll andĀ Archie Meets KissĀ has a similar premise. It’ll be exciting to see what kind of conflicts The Archies get into next, and what they’ll learn from CHVRCHES.

Are you looking forward to this issue? What other bands do you want to the The Archies interact with?
