Anna Kendrick and Gloria Steinem Shamelessly Dine Alone (Then Together) for Kate Spade


Getting stood up by your date is way easier when you’ve got a regular table at the Russian Tea Room, an awesome (if flashy) Kate Spade purse, and you get to hang out over dessert with Gloria Freaking Steinem. It’s a good day to be Anna Kendrick.

This video is Episode 3 in Kate Spade’s #Missadventure series. I guess badass gnome purses and feminist icons DO mix!

And don’t you tell me that a gnome purse isn’t badass, BECAUSE IT IS.

The point of the ad, titled “The Best Company,” is that dining alone while female isn’t sad or scandalous – it can be an adventure and provide opportunities. If gnome purses aren’t your thing (but it has a glittery hat. A glittery hat!), check out these interviews Steinem did along with the ad on Kate Spade’s YouTube channel. In them, she talks about dining alone as a civil right and tells some truthy truths about writing:
