‘And Just Like That…’ Has Been Renewed for Another Season of Cringe

And Just Like That… may be terrible, but it has been renewed for another season. The sequel series of Sex and the City will return with its three leads—Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis—reprising their iconic roles for yet another turn.

HBO Max head of original content Sarah Aubrey said, in the announcement shared by The Hollywood Reporter, “We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much. We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season two.”

Delighted, you say? Well, they do say all publicity is good publicity, so even though the series has gotten mixed to negative reviews, it seems like HBO believes in the Sex and the City brand enough to grant them a second season. It is not surprising, but I do hope that, due to all the backlash and thoughtful criticism, the show does actually try to listen to why it didn’t connect with many.

Hopefully, with this second season, they will be able to find some of the real magic that made the original show work. After all, they have talented people in the room. While this is another season of … Che Diaz and Miranda, hopefully, they can finally show us why we should root for this couple.

I won’t be hate-watching the second season. If I hear it gets better, I’ll happily check it out after it airs, but I think that if we really want to shows like this to do better, then we need to respond with our views. They need to earn me back. Until then, I will enjoy the memories of Sex and the City and pretend that, just like the second film, this doesn’t exist.
