Adventure Time is a show that’s always hinted and pointed to a darker, deeper mythology and with the news that the show will end in 2018 on its 9th season, we can expect a lot of developments in the upcoming episodes.
Season 8 will premiere January 23rd, with the “Islands” arc airing on January 30th. The clip above, which will be available along with other kinds of features on the DVD and Digital release bonus content, shows Finn, Jake, BMO, and Susan Strong embarking on a quest to 8 different islands as Princess Bubblegum and Marceline see them off. PB warns Finn that his journey outside the Land of Ooo could lead to him uncovering some upsetting truths about what happened to the humans. What kind of danger and secrets awaits Finn on his odyssey is yet to be see, but knowing that the series will end with the finale of “Islands,” we can speculate they might be big ones.
Will it be a hero’s journey from which Finn returns victorious, or a Swiftian journey that will cause Finn to start seeing Ooo differently? We’ll just have to wait and see. Are you excited for the new season of Adventure Time?
