Georgia Man Alleges Restaurant Owner Was ‘Aggressive’ and Threatened to Call Police on Him for Dining In: ’Get Out of Here’

Allegedly, this isn't the first time the owner's behavior had been questioned.

A man had hoped to sit down and enjoy a nice meal at a restaurant in Alpharetta, Georgia, only to allegedly be kicked out by the owner and threatened with a call to the police. Dino Garvey (@luv_jah) shared the incident in a video on Instagram, showing the “aggressive” confrontation he had with who he believed was one of the restaurant’s owners.

“I typically don’t post about customer service at restaurants because I understand that people have bad days and honest mistakes happen,” Garvey said in his post on Aug. 31. “However, my experience today at Lin’s Chinese Cuisine at Windward in Alpharetta, GA, needs to be shared.”

According to Garvey, he made a quick trip to his car after placing an order and returned to eat in the restaurant. He said he sat down to eat at a table next to the male owner, who took his order and even gave him a free bottle of water.

Garvey claimed the restaurant owner confronted him aggressively

“Less than 10 minutes later, a woman whom I believe was the other owner came out aggressively and told me I had to leave,” Garvey said. Garvey claimed he questioned the owner as to why she was approaching him “aggressively,” before allegedly being told to take his food and leave. “I repeatedly asked her to stop walking toward me so aggressively and to calm down,” he said.

Garvey said he had tried to pack up his food to leave; however, the owner allegedly continued with an aggressive approach and even threatened to call the police on him. In the video Garvey shared, the owner repeatedly told Garvey to “read the sign at the door,” which supposedly told customers that they only accept takeout orders.

The restaurant’s website also confirmed that they are currently “offering TAKE-OUT service only” despite having chairs and tables cleanly set up. Still, Garvey claimed to have been unaware and was left confused by the entire situation and by how he was approached.

“The entire situation was confusing and unnecessary,” Garvey said. “The male owner allowed me to order, never said the restaurant was takeout-only, and sat beside me while I ate without mentioning a problem.”

Garvey also asked the owner if he would be receiving a refund because of her alleged aggressiveness, to which she responded no. When Garvey said they should call the police, the owner agreed and said, “Yeah, you need to get out of here.”

At one point in their dispute, the owner was seemingly in disbelief when she found out her husband had given him water. “You gave him a free bottle of water?” she asked her husband mid-confrontation.

The owner was accused of racism in the past

Viewers were also left in disbelief at how the owner handled the situation and thought Garvey shouldn’t have been treated that way despite making a simple mistake. “Restaurant is takeout only, it was an honest mistake that didn’t warrant that kind of reaction, especially since the husband didn’t have an issue with it. That free bottle of water pushed her over the edge, lol,” one comment said.

Some were a bit more amused by the owner’s reaction to his free water. “Yooooo when she found out you got the free water, she probably gonna finish that husband off later,” a comment read. Another said, “’YOU GAVE HIM A FREE BOTTLE OF WATA ?!’ crazy work.”

Others called for a boycott of the restaurant, claiming the owner’s reaction was race-motivated. “Bro they genuinely don’t like us. It’s not a secret,” one said. Another added that they “thought we were boycotting Chinese establishments.”

Allegedly, this isn’t the first time the owner has had questionable customer service. On their Yelp page, past customers have accused the owner of racism and rude behavior. Moreover, the owner also uses a Black man as her profile picture.

“I don’t feel sorry that you are being discriminated, you make yourself this way and no one can change you,” read one of the responses to a review the owner made when she was accused of racism in 2022. “The word NASTY WOMEN describes exactly how you look!”

After reading through several reviews of the restaurant on Yelp, Garvey claimed his experience made more sense. “Based on my personal experience, I would advise anyone in Alpharetta to be cautious when visiting this establishment,” he concluded.
