Trump Kicks Over a Lake Ontario Sign and Dances to YMCA in Bizarre AI Video Amid Canada Feud

A quick look at President Donald Trump’s social media shows he doesn’t really restrict himself when expressing his thoughts there. For a long time, he has been accused of using his Truth Social account as a personal journal, and his latest post is fueling that conversation again.
Over the past few days, Trump has wanted to rename Lake Ontario, a lake the United States shares with Canada, Lake America. On Thursday, he took it a notch further by signing an executive order doing the same. However, Canadians have not been excited about the idea and have explicitly opposed his efforts, including Canadian Minister of Industry Mélanie Joly, who stressed that Canada would continue calling the body of water Lake Ontario.
Trump doesn’t seem to be taking that opposition too well. On Saturday, he posted on Truth Social what appears to be an AI-generated video depicting an army of buffed ducks with human hands and Trump-style hair, holding guns and marching around Lake Ontario before reaching a strip of land that says “Lake America.” American flags border the area, subtly indicating ownership.
That same day, Trump posted another AI-generated video showing him approaching a Lake Ontario sign near the lake and kicking it over. He then replaces it with a Lake America sign and dances to YMCA by Village People, a song widely associated with Trump’s celebration dances in recent years.
Trump has been beefing with Canada for a long time
Not long after becoming president of the United States for a second term last year, Donald Trump had expressed his wish to make Canada the 51st US state, an idea he has floated around earlier as well. However, Canadian leadership opposed the idea, and since then the two countries have been beefing, with most of the attacks coming from Trump and the American side.
Recently, after Canada fell out of a trade deal with the U.S., Trump imposed 50 percent tariffs on $28 billion of Canadian goods, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said in a statement. In retaliation, while admitting to a gradual severing of ties between Canada and the United States, historically considered military allies, Carney said that Canada would “match those tariffs dollar for dollar to protect our workers and businesses.”
On Trump’s wishes to rename Lake Ontario, Carney took to social media on Thursday to reject the idea. He wrote on X, “The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”. The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.”
He continued, “We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms. Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.”
