Man Says a Guy Approached Him to Fix Dents in His Car. His First Thought Was That He’d Caused Them, Then He Checked the Cameras
She thought she could get away with it.
Should you be suspicious of a stranger suddenly offering you assistance? In a TikTok video, Jeff (@jeff.for) said he had just stepped out of Whole Foods and was about to leave when a person approached him and asked him to roll his windows down. He then says the man told him that he’d found a shade match for his car and could fix the dents and scratches on its rear.
Jeff said he was confused, as he’d recently mended his car after it had suffered a few scratches. However, when he inspected it, he realized the man was right.
Jeff said he initially thought the man himself had tampered with his car so he would be obligated to use his services, but later checked the cameras on his Tesla. The footage showed someone driving a Prius trying to reverse, and when they moved forward, they rubbed against his car and caused the damage.
He said, “They’re trying to park in the spot right next to me. You can see right here, she. She’s like, oh, is there enough room? She reverses, and then right here, she comes up. You can see the car moves, she hits the side, the car goes up on my car, and then she just reverses, and she’s like, oh, sh**. And she just drives right off.”
“Just file a report”
After Jeff identified the license plate of the person who hit his car, confirmed they were still parked, and waited for them to come out of Whole Foods. He noticed they were parked in the handicap section but didn’t care, wanting compensation for damages. “And yes, she does have a handicap thing. I don’t give a damn if she’s handicap. You shouldn’t be hitting people’s cars and driving away. Um, she knew goddamn well she hit the car.”
Some of the comments urged Jeff to seek legal help for his troubles. One user said, “No just file a report! They’ll tell you her insurance. You can file it on hers. Don’t file it on yours again.” Another user wrote, “File a police report too. The police will contact her and if she doesn’t provide insurance info then it’ll be a hit and run.”
A few people, especially women, in the comments section seemed to be surprised by Jeff’s decision to step out of the car without questions after someone asked him to. One user commented, saying, “As a woman it’s crazy to me that you believed him and got out of your car to check…I’m so paranoid.” Another user remarked, “I’m still stuck on a stranger flagged you down and you got out of the car?”
In his video, Jeff mentioned that despite waiting for almost an hour for the person to come out, they didn’t. He also said he went to Whole Foods to look for them but couldn’t find them.
“It has been almost an hour, and I don’t know where this b—h is. I went into Whole Foods looking for her, couldn’t find her,” he said.
He continued, “She’s not sitting outside. Um, there are these, like, other shops that are here, like dental, whatever, all of these things. So, like, maybe she went into one of those. I have no idea.” He added, “ But I’m still continuing here to wait because I’m petty, and I will wait all day if I have to. I got games pulled up. I got time.”
Unfortunately we often have to stay cautious when dealing with strangers. While most encounters are harmless, things can go wrong, and it’s better to be cautious than to feel sorry about it later.
