Pennsylvania Helps To Return a Lost Credit Card. Then a Cop Tells Her To Use It Buy a ‘Louie’ Bag for Herself
Does a good deed deserve a "Louie bag?"
A Pennsylvania woman tried to return a lost credit card, and a police officer told her that she should go get herself something nice for herself with it. @giannie.cx’s video shows her finding the lost bank card and approaching the police at a concert.
When she tried to hand them the card, they told her she should “go buy yourself a Louie bag” (presumably a Louis Vuitton bag). The comments then devolved into a conversation about whether or not the cops were joking.
To be fair, the police could have been joking, as they wouldn’t want to knowingly encourage someone to break the law on-camera. However, a missing debit or credit card is probably pretty low on their to-do list for the day. Many people in the Reddit thread discussing the incident praised her for doing the right thing.
Was the cop really joking?
One says, “Just destroy the card and they’ll get a new one”, another said, “Disgusting these girls tried to do good for someone and that’s what the supposed protectors of law and order tell her to do…. Just disgusting”, though some accused her of “wasting police time”
Many others argue that the cop was joking. “Lol yeah they were definitely joking. This is cop joke. I’ve had many moments of inappropriate jokes exchanged with police, this is mild,” they said. Responses argue back that cops should take their jobs seriously: “To be fair, plenty of people can’t tell, specially when cops are supposed to take their job serious most of the time. If someone doesn’t get your joke, or seems to think you’re being serious, you should stop joking.”
As the debate rages on, you can’t take away the positive moment for the young lady who posted the video. It’s pretty hard to get near-universal approval on the Internet in 2026. And, here’s an entire comment section basically going “good call.” Over on the Philadelphia Police Department website, they lay out how they’re supposed to conduct themselves.
The department’s official mission statement says. “The Philadelphia Police Department’s mission is to foster and maintain safety in our neighborhoods by building strong community partnerships and practicing fair, effective, and innovative policing,” it reads. “We fulfill this mission by investing in our workforce and protecting the constitutional rights of all.”
But the best thing to do was the top-voted comment, which advised not to get the police involved at all: “If anyone finds themselves in this situation, there’s a number on the back of the card that you can call and report it as lost. They can then usually cancel the card and go ahead with reissuing a new one for the owner.”
