Reports of delivery drivers showing up and not actually delivering are frequent, especially when we’re talking about large furniture or appliances.

Home improvement corporations such as Lowe’s or Home Depot use third-party delivery services, which have gotten a bad reputation among consumers for things like no-shows or alleged fake delivery attempts.

Just recently, a Best Buy customer claimed a third-party delivery company showed up, parked in her driveway for a few minutes, then drove off without ever calling her or getting out of the truck.

Early last month, a Lowe’s customer said something similar happened to him.

In a video that got over 160,400 views, TikTok creator Ryan (@ideffoverthink) spoke directly to Lowe’s Home Improvement, recounting a recent failed refrigerator delivery.

What Went Wrong During This Lowe’s Delivery?

“Hello! This message is for Lowe’s Home Improvement,” Ryan begins. “Can you guys please tag Lowe’s in this video so that they see it?”

He then shows viewers his kitchen, where the old refrigerator is still sitting despite allegedly paying for the delivery crew to remove it and bring the new one inside.

“Uh-oh! It looks like the refrigerator they were supposed to take is still [expletive] there!” he says.

Naturally, Ryan called Lowe’s to find out what happened.

According to him, the explanation involved the size of his doorways.

“They said, ‘Well, sir, we need 28 inches of clearance enabled to get into your house,’” Ryan recalls. “‘And the doorways in your house are not 28 inches.’”

So, he decided to check.

“Now, let’s play a [expletive] game called How Big Are Ryan’s Doorways?” he says.

Ryan pulls out a tape measure himself, revealing that the doorway appears to measure at 35 inches.

“My doorway is apparently 28 [expletive] inches!” he says sarcastically.

And the refrigerator wasn’t the only problem.

Ryan says the crew was also supposed to haul away his old range. Instead, he shows it sitting outside.

“Oops! They just left it in the [expletive] driveway,” he says.

At that point, Ryan says he was waiting for a supervisor from the delivery company to call him back and explain when they would try again.

“Third time’s the charm!” he says, before revealing this had actually already happened multiple times. “Oh, did I tell you that I’ve done this three [expletive] times?”

Eventually, someone did call back, although Ryan says it wasn’t the supervisor he had been expecting.

“It was just from somebody in customer service and they rescheduled the people coming to do their job,” he says.

That would make the next attempt number four.

“Hopefully you guys don’t [expletive] this up, but who knows?” Ryan says. “Who knows? This is the fourth time that we’re [expletive] trying!”

He Shares An Update

In a second video, Ryan says he contacted the delivery company himself and was told the refrigerator would arrive at 8:30 the following morning.

The delivery eventually showed up, he says, but the driver was allegedly running around three hours late, leaving Ryan even more frustrated.

Then, in a third video, the saga finally came to an end.

Ryan says the new refrigerator made it inside and the old one was taken away. However, he couldn’t resist pointing out one detail.

As the workers moved the appliances through the doorway, Ryan sarcastically filmed them fitting through the same entrance that the previous crew had allegedly claimed was too narrow.

Commenters Blame Third-Party Delivery Companies

Some viewers immediately blamed Lowe’s use of outside delivery services.

“Former Lowe’s employee here. A few years ago Lowe’s fired all their delivery employees and now outsources it to third party delivery companies,” one commenter wrote. “They find the cheapest company they can and absolutely DO NOT vet them, I promise.”

Another viewer argued that the problem goes beyond Lowe’s. “All these company outsourcing deliveries to a third party has caused nothing but issues,” they wrote.

A third commenter who said they had experienced a similar problem suggested leaving a public review. “I would leave a bad review on Google i had a similar situation and amazingly they fixed it within 24 hours,” they wrote, adding that they believed they had dealt with the same delivery company.
