New Jersey Woman Went Grocery Shopping Looking Her ‘Absolute Worst.’ Then Somebody From Her Past Came Running
One-sided beef exposed at the grocery store.
When Shakira Mariame (@shakiramariame) cut off her high school best friend, she thought that was the end of it. That was until a few years later, when her ex-best friend allegedly scurried over to see Shakira looking undone in public.
“The most obsessive [expletive] you’ll deal with are the ones from your past who no longer have access to you,” Shakira prefaced on TikTok. She explained that the woman in the story used to be her best friend from high school. Shakira said that during high school, she was an insecure, dark-skinned girl who was bullied and ostracized. Even light-skinned Black girls get picked on, and in this Nashville woman’s case, she said her bullies abandoned her in a drug den under the pretense of a sleepover party. But Shakira would eventually get to know herself better and thrive.
“Towards the end of high school, I started tapping into my full potential. I started tapping into my social media platform, pursuing modeling opportunities, getting more confident in myself,” Shakira said. After gaining confidence, Shakira said her relationship with her best friend changed.
“But my ex-best friend, she did not see it that way. She saw it as me thinking I’m better than everyone,” Shakira stated. Because of that, they mutually agreed to end their friendship. She added, “Girl, you definitely feel uncomfortable with the confident version of me.” Shakira thought her friend was projecting insecurities on her. They allegedly ended their relationship “on good terms” before insecurity and resentment could build. It definitely did not drag on like a situationship that ended in an explosive, public breakup at a coffee shop somewhere in Los Angeles.
Waiting on her downfall
“Listen, there is no beef. I wish you the best,” Shakira said. She said that if she saw her ex-best friend out on the streets, she wouldn’t hesitate to smile and wave. While Shakira harbored no animosity, she sensed that her and her ex-best friend’s paths no longer aligned.
“I kept that energy on my side, but this girl did not,” Shakira alleged. They drifted apart, and she even forgot all about the woman until Shakira decided to go back to her hometown. She went to the grocery store after a renovation.
“Mind you, this day, I looked my absolute worst. I was going through my home remodel. I just finished setting up the panels for my TV wall, my clothes were all dirty, and I had paint everywhere,” Shakira said. She also claimed that even her hair and lips looked dry. She wasn’t out to make a good first impression, unlike this other woman who was overly concerned about being awkward around her carjacker.
“But even at my absolute worst, I was still recognizable,” she claimed. That’s when she ran into a man from high school, who greeted her. He initiated small talk, and Shakira decided to stay and chat. But the man wasn’t alone—he apparently had his girlfriend with him, who was still friends with Shakira’s ex-best friend.

“As me and him were talking, I look on the side, and I see his girlfriend doing some [expletive] on her phone,” Shakira said. Then, unexpectedly, somebody barged into the grocery aisles. She continued, “The next thing you know, five minutes later, guess who walks into the grocery store? My ex-best friend.”
Shakira said that the woman “sprinted” in the store, ran through the aisles, and left. She alleged that her ex-best friend poked her head around to look for someone, and Shakira assumed it was her.
“That’s when I came to the realization that this [expletive] has been harboring so much hate over me for the past few years because she no longer has access to me anymore, and I started to become successful,” Shakira claimed. She asserted that her ex-best friend’s jealousy had gotten worse through the years, to the point that the woman started talking about her to strangers in college and in group chats. It goes to show that not everyone is as they seem, as another woman from Kentucky would know after learning of her best friend’s affair with her husband.
