Arkansas Woman Orders an Alcoholic Drink at Diablos. Then Her Boyfriend Takes a Sip and Gets Police Called on Them: ‘Very Racist’
The server allegedly refused to see their IDs.
A woman’s visit to Diablos Tacos & Mezcalería in Little Rock, Arkansas, ended with her accusing the restaurant and its staff of being racist. The incident was shared by TikTok user @brookecarte, who claimed to have ordered an alcoholic drink at the restaurant before the situation escalated to “completely unacceptable.”
According to brookecarte, she had ordered an alcoholic drink while dining at the establishment, after which her boyfriend took a sip while they were seated at their table. However, she claimed that a server immediately stormed over and confiscated the drink before contacting authorities.
“My boyfriend, who is also of age, took a couple of sips of MY drink while it remained at our table,” brookecarte said in her video’s caption. “Our waitress, Becca, was watching us, came over, SNATCHED the drink off our table, and the police were called on us over the situation.”
Woman says the restaurant is a racist establishment
brookecarte alleged that they were racially profiled after observing that the restaurant was supposedly serving Hispanic customers alcoholic drinks and allowing them to leave the establishment with said drinks. “We were being watched and treated as if we were doing something criminal for sharing a few sips at our own table,” the TikToker said.
In the video, brookecarte urged viewers not to dine at the establishment, saying, “Don’t eat here. They’re very racist.” According to the content creator, she and her boyfriend were the only ones to receive such treatment, while the establishment allegedly treated the other non-Black customers differently. A similar incident happened when a group of Black women was prohibited from taking photos in a restaurant, while a group of white customers was allowed.
She also shared her brief interaction with the server in question. The footage showed brookecarte introducing the server, who smiled and waved at the camera, before engaging in a heated confrontation after she claimed the server was “very racist” to the camera.
The server can be heard denying the TikToker’s allegations, while brookecarte called the server unprofessional and someone she doesn’t “have to interact” with. “It’s alright. You’re a racist. I’ma post it on social that Diablos is racist,” she said.
Server allegedly calls police on customers
A brief discussion over police allegedly getting called can also be heard in the video. “You called the police on people who didn’t do anything wrong,” brookecarte said to the server, who insisted that the TikToker urged her to call the police.
When questioned if the server asked for the couple’s IDs to verify their age, brookecarte claimed that they offered to show the server their IDs via phone. However, the server allegedly refused. According to her, the server had reported them for disturbance despite having paid for their food already. This isn’t the first time a Black customer has had the police called on them; a Circle K employee allegedly reported a customer for no reason.
Viewers had mixed reactions over the incident. Some have shown their support and backed the brookecarte’s claims of racism: “As a server yes I get it sometimes customers are irritating (not in this situation idgaf about ppl sharing drinks) but why are we acting like calling the police on black people for something that doesn’t even matter is not racist.”
Others were not so sure the incident was race-related. “Still confused on what made her racist?” one comment read. “Hold on – I’m white and also got terrible service here, are we sure it’s about race?” a second comment said. Another read, “I’m Hispanic and also got treated like that there I don’t think it’s about race.”
