Hooters Server Gets Literal 2 Cents From Customer as a Tip—and a Piece of Her Mind: ‘My Husband Doesn’t Need…’

Working as a server at a place like Hooters comes with plenty of prejudice and stigma. The concept of women in revealing uniforms serving a largely male customer base has always made some people uncomfortable.

One popular debate online is whether women in heterosexual relationships would be OK with their straight male partner dining at a Hooters restaurant.

Something that is unusual, though, is going to Hooters with your husband and then getting so disgruntled at the server that you leave a 2-cent tip.

As far-fetched as that sounds, former Hooters server Jade (@drowningmysims) posted proof that it allegedly happened to her. In a TikTok post, she shows herself holding a receipt with an angry note written on it.

Hooters Customer Leaves Server 2 Cents And A Note

In the video, Jade holds up a receipt from her time working at Hooters.

On the receipt, the server had circled her name and drawn a heart next to it. The customer apparently did not appreciate that.

The customer crossed out the heart and wrote, “Girl BYE!!!” next to it.

Then she continued further down the receipt.

“Use manners!” the customer wrote. “My husband doesn’t need a heart around your name. Be Real!!!! Maybe listen & you would get a tip!”

On the tip line, the customer left just 2 cents.

Viewers Found It Wild

In the comments, viewers could not get over the note, the crossed-out heart, or the 2-cent tip.

“Me when im mad my man made me go to hooters,” one commenter wrote.

Another viewer pointed to the receipt itself.

“BRUHHHH THE CROSSED OUT HEART AND THE ‘GIRL BYE’ NEXT TO IT,” they wrote.

A former Hooters worker said hearts were not necessarily personal at all.

“I use to work at Hooters and they use to make us write our name on a napkin and I always put hearts on mine, I promise it doesn’t mean anything,” they wrote.

Someone else thought the customer took her frustration out on the wrong person.

“She went there to be mean to someone who her husband had no chance with and who had to be professional and polite to her,” they wrote.

Not All Partners Think The Same

Women have shared very different takes on whether their partners are “allowed” to dine at a Hooters.

In one r/AITA discussion, some commenters said they would not care.

“I don’t see any issue with him going,” one person shared. “I’ve been to Hooters with my husband and it didn’t bother me. I would just shrug if my husband went alone.”

Another commenter argued that people sometimes make Hooters sound more scandalous than it is.

“Hooters literally has a children’s menu,” they stated. “It’s not a big deal. Waitresses just wear tight clothes, tank top and short shorts. Their legs aren’t even bare- they wear a pretty thick pantyhose.”

However, others were not buying the idea that men go there only for the wings.

“No one has ever gone there because of the food,” one commenter wrote. “No one. Ever. It’s such an obvious, blatant lie that I fear for the mental health of anyone who might believe that.”
