Woman Says Her Husband Told Her He Needed to Start Filming Her the Same Way He Filmed His Ex Wife. She Knew Exactly What That Meant

Some relationships end after years of growing apart. Others fall apart almost as quickly as they begin, leaving people wondering what changed in such a short time.
That was the reaction after TikTok creator @becksafterdark shared a video announcing she was leaving her husband just three months after they got married. She said the decision did not come after a single dramatic incident but after a pattern that became impossible to ignore.
As the video gained attention, viewers focused less on the length of the marriage and more on the behaviour she described. Many said her account sounded familiar, while others urged her not to go back.
She says it kept happening again and again
The creator opens the video by saying, “I’m leaving my husband after only three months of marriage.” She says the relationship began with constant affection. She recalls that her husband regularly called her “a gift,” told her she was beautiful, picked up coffee for her and helped with things like fixing her car.
“It was passionate, it was intense, it was beautiful,” she says. “And I don’t regret the experience at all. However, I’m still leaving.” The creator says the relationship changed whenever conflict arose. She claims disagreements surfaced about every two weeks and often started over issues she considered minor.
She claims her husband would respond to disagreements with intense criticism, passive-aggressive remarks and personal attacks. “The same passion that he would use to tell me how much he loves me… he would also cut me down,” she says.
She says she supported him after he moved eight hours away to live with her, paying the deposit, covering the rent and working while he rebuilt his business. She also says financial pressure and being away from her daughter weighed on her.
The creator says one discussion about her personal struggles convinced her the relationship could not continue. She explains that after a difficult day at work, she told her husband she had been struggling with self-worth and was trying to stop tying her value to money, productivity and appearance.
Instead of feeling supported, she claims her husband accused her of lying, manipulating and gaslighting after she tried to explain how she felt. “I was just sharing something I’ve been struggling with,” she says.
She claims the argument escalated further when her husband told her he needed to start filming their conversations “just like I do with my ex wife.” The creator says she responded by telling him she saw “contempt” in his face, while he replied that he “won’t let you fail.” She says she repeatedly tried to explain that nobody was talking about failure and that she was only trying to share how she felt.
She says the argument continued into the following morning after she told him she did not want to keep discussing it. By the end of the argument, she says, she had decided the marriage was over. “He asked me to leave,” she says. “And I moved into my car.”
Her story is one of several marriage experiences shared on TikTok in recent months. Another creator previously said a marriage that began after just three months ended in abuse and divorce, while a Vancouver woman explained how years of isolation in a joint-family home eventually led to the end of her marriage.
The video prompted hundreds of comments, with many viewers saying they recognised the behaviour she described. “My bf does this too. Never tell them about your past, they use your vulnerability against you!” one commenter wrote. Another said, “narcissistic behavior 100%.”
The creator’s video reflects her personal account. Her husband has not publicly responded, and the claims have not been independently verified.
