Woman Checks Into Great Wolf Lodge and Immediately Gets a Mystery Cough. Then She Vomits Pink and Is Never the Same: ‘What It Is in the Air’

Great Wolf Lodge has become one of the best-known indoor water park resorts in North America. Each year, millions of families visit its themed hotels, water slides, and other family attractions.
Recently, however, the resort has been drawing attention on TikTok for reasons beyond its water parks. Creators are sharing stories about visits they say left a lasting impression long after their vacations ended.
One of the latest videos comes from a TikTok creator @kriistiinaa4 who believes a childhood visit to Great Wolf Lodge marked the beginning of years of anxiety. After seeing similar stories spread across her “For You” page, she shared why she thinks that vacation changed her life.
The conversation quickly grew beyond one story
“Great Wolf Lodge ruined my life.” That is how the creator opens her video before explaining why she believes a family vacation when she was about 10 years old became a turning point in her life.
She visited the resort with her family and several other families from a soccer team. She says nothing seemed unusual when they arrived. She remembers spending time at the indoor water park with friends before suddenly beginning to feel unwell later that day.
The creator says what first felt like an upset stomach quickly became something much more difficult to explain. She recalls feeling increasingly anxious while walking back to the hotel room before dinner. At the time, she says she had never experienced a panic attack and did not understand what was happening.
She says the symptoms continued during dinner, where she became sick after taking medication for nausea. The incident, she says, left her embarrassed and desperate to leave. “I wanna go home. Like, I don’t feel good here, I don’t feel safe here, I don’t feel comfortable here, I wanna go home, we need to leave.”
The creator says her family cut the trip short and returned home the following day. She says the physical symptoms disappeared after they left. “The second that we left that hotel, I was perfectly fine.”
She says the experience did not end there. Looking back, she believes that weekend marked the beginning of anxiety, panic attacks, and emetophobia, a fear of vomiting that she says continued into adulthood. “And the reason why I say that that ruined my life is because that was the start of my anxiety.”
She adds that for years her family has associated the beginning of her anxiety with that vacation. After watching other creators share similar stories, she says she even texted her parents to ask what they remembered. “I really thought I was the only one.”
The video’s comment section quickly shifted beyond the creator’s story. Some viewers shared experiences they said happened during visits to Great Wolf Lodge, while others suggested possible explanations for her symptoms.
The discussion comes after another TikTok creator recently went viral after comparing an empty indoor water park at Great Wolf Lodge to the internet’s fictional “Backrooms.” and another in which viewers mistakenly believed a creator’s hotel hot tub experience happened at Great Wolf Lodge before she later clarified it did not.
Several commenters claimed mold exposure could have been responsible. Others described unrelated incidents involving allergies, seizures, or illness during visits to the resort. Those comments were posted without supporting evidence, and none of the claims have been verified.
The creator also does not present evidence showing what caused her symptoms. Instead, she frames the video as her personal experience and her belief that the trip marked the beginning of a long struggle with anxiety.
