New Orleans Woman Says Ford Keeps Calling Her 2024 Bronco Sport ‘Normal.’ It Rocks Back and Forth on Flat Ground

It’s only natural for some cars to shake when people enter or exit the vehicle. But Taylor White (@taylor.white504) tagged Ford Motor Company on TikTok after her 2024 Bronco Sport started swaying.
She posted on TikTok, “Just picked up my Bronco 2024 from its 4th trip to the service department for the same issue. They say nothing is wrong. Rocking back and forth on a level/ground is normal?” White also directly tagged the official TikTok account of Ford in her post.
In the video, White was sitting on the driver’s seat of her car. When she turned off her car and opened the door, the car started rocking back and forth. The complaint went viral on social media. When parked correctly, any car shouldn’t be swaying like a leaf against the wind. But oddly enough, White’s vehicle was moving even though she had disclosed that the vehicle was on the ground—presumably, parked.
White also said in a separate TikTok post that the exhaust of her Ford is rattling, even though she was told by the maintenance team that they had already replaced a component at the back. She also stated that it “smells like it’s burning” after a drive. She has not provided any new updates, but in a different video, White said that the car is still giving her “new problems.”
What’s wrong with her Ford?
Many commenters on social media speculated that perhaps White did not park her truck correctly. Some even dismissed White’s concerns. Meanwhile, there were also people who gave advice on what White should do next.
One person who said he’s a technician for Ford commented. He wrote, “To stop this, set your e-brake prior to putting the vehicle in park. But all vehicles will do this. My Tacoma and F150 both do it.”
Another, who claimed to be a former Ford mechanic chimed in. He said, “That’s the parking pawl, the pawl latches onto a shell and it’s like a pin going into a hole, there is a little bit of play so it goes in easily and then other things can flex, that’s why it rocks back and forth, it’s 10000% normal. Every car does this, if you don’t like it use the parking brake when you stop before putting it in park.”
The problem might just be the model of her car
But not all technicians agree in White’s comment section. Another Ford technician suggested, “go to a dealership you have not worked with yet, go IN PERSON, and tell them to have a tech ride with you. (They will) and drive it around, park it, specifically show the issues. This is NOT NORMAL. And depending on your mileage might still be covered under manufacturer warranty!”
A social media user commented, “You put it in park while moving too many times and wore out the parking pawl.” Essentially, the parking pawl might need to be replaced.
Meanwhile, others in the comment section thought that a Ford Bronco Sport in general was simply unreliable.
Another mechanic weighed in. He said, “Mechanic here. The issue is you bought a ford bronco sport lmao. They are just the ford escape (which was garbage) renamed.” Even another self-professed Ford employee told White that Ford Bronco Sport are “simply not good cars.’
It seems that not everyone is a fan of Ford vehicles.
