Oregon Woman’s Dentist Quoted $15K for a Tooth Implant. Then She Retaliated and Got a Response She Wasn’t Expecting
Getting a quote for major dental work is rarely fun, but one Oregon woman turned that moment into a joke – and her dentist came back with an answer that left TikTok users laughing.
The creator, who posts under the username @cascade.carls, shared the brief exchange in a text-only TikTok that has sparked both laughs and a debate over the cost of dental implants.
A $15,000 Estimate Inspires One Sarcastic Comeback
In the video, the creator explained that her “millennial dentist” estimated it would cost between $12,000 and $15,000 for a tooth implant.
She joked that her dentist asked, “How much do you miss your tooth?”
Rather than answer seriously, she whipped back at the dentist, “Not that much. I can get different implants for that price.”
It was a very puny experience, directly responding to the price tag for the dental implants. But according to the creator, her dentist didn’t miss a beat in the conversation.
Her Dentist’s Reply Caught her Completely Off Guard
Instead of laughing off the comment or trying to persuade her otherwise, the dentist reportedly responded with a joke of her own.
“Then I’ll see you and the twins in six months,” the creator recalled.
The unexpected comeback quickly became the highlight of the video, with many viewers appreciating the dentist’s sense of humor just as much as the patients.
Although the clip did not include any audio or additional context about the treatment plan, the short back and forth resonated with people who have experiences expensive dental work themselves.
Viewers Immediately Started Comparing Implant Prices
While plenty of commenters laughed at the back-and-forth, others focused on the quoted price, sharing what they had paid for their own dental implants.
One user wrote, “You could get one for $6-7 thousand in Wisconsin. That includes the implant and the crown that goes on it afterwards.”
Another added, “My dentist is $3900 each and appears to be a bargain.”
Some Oregon residents also chimed in with lower estimates.
“My husband got his implant and bone graft for 6k in Oregon City!!” one commenter claimed.
Another person shared a more expensive experience but still said it came in well below the creator’s estimate.
“Just paid $7500 for my implant AFTER a failed root canal… it was for one tooth and ’emergent’ and still half the price you were quoted!!”
The creator also appeared curious about the estimate she received. In the comments, she replied to a dental professional, writing, “I just started following you – is this price accurate lol.”
Several factors can drive dental implant costs up or down, including the practice’s location, the need for procedures such as bone grafting, the complexity of the case, and whether the estimate covers the implant, abutment, crown, imaging, or additional treatment.
Even so, for many viewers, the real takeaway wasn’t the cost – it was the perfectly timed exchange between a patient trying to laugh off an expensive estimate and a dentist who proved she could deliver an equally sharp punchline.
