In her video, Jezebel narrated the story of a first date she went on with a man after interacting with him on Hinge. She mentioned that they were supposed to meet at 6. However, she said that before the date, the man texted her on Hinge, letting her know he would be 20 minutes late. Jezebel did not take the news very well, and as she revealed in her TikTok video, she ordered a drink for herself with the intention of making her date pay for it for making her wait.

TikTok user @jezacat was miffed at her date for arriving late

In the video, @‌jezacat said she matched with the man on Hinge and planned to meet him for a first date at 6 pm. However, she mentioned that he texted her on Hinge, notifying her that he would arrive at the location by 6:20 pm. Jezebel said she texted someone named Rachel about the delay, and Rachel encouraged her to continue with the date.

Jezebel then mentions that the server, who was very friendly according to her, gave her a glass of wine upon learning that her date was late. According to Jezebel, she ordered a drink and told the server that she expected her date to pay for it because he was late. She claimed the server agreed.

Reflecting on the incident, Jezebel shares in her TikTok video how she would like her man to behave in similar situations. She said, “If you’re gonna be late, my man, like, my man would be so apologetic about it. Like, I’m so sorry that I’m late. And then he would be like, order whatever you want, obviously. It’s all on me. Please get all the appetizers and drinks that you want. My bad for being late. Like, that’s what my man would say.”

People in the comments section of @jezacat’s video are divided

People have different opinions about @jezacat’s story, where she expressed dissatisfaction that her date arrived late for their first meeting. Many commenters believed Jezebel was in the wrong in this case because her date had warned her he would be late. User @bellaferrac wrote, “well he’s not ur man, it’s a first date, he doesn’t owe u anything.” User @anaboo.._ said, “lol it’s only 20 min. He apologized. You are acting like he is 2h late.”

However, others believe Jezebel deserves a free drink for her date arriving late. User @treesloveme3098 commented, “The way I would have left and not told him I was leaving.” User @luliluliiiii said, “WHY is everyone in the comments acting like its okay to be late on a first date? Be respectful of other people’s time. Being late is rude and disrespectful, two things you don’t want on a first date.”
