David Corenswet’s Supergirl Red Carpet Moment Showed Fans Why He’s a Perfect Superman

It’s Supergirl week, but David Corenswet still found time to embody the perfect Superman in real-life. During last night’s big New York premiere for the movie, The Man of Steel stepped up in a big way.
Folks on social media have probably seen the clip of Corenswet checking a photographer who was touching Milly Alcock without her permission. HomeOfDCU got a hold of the clip on social media and it spread with the quickness.
Superman might have been catching up with Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult. But, when he saw this photographer get a bit too familiar with his co-star, he stepped right in. After a quick exchange of words, Corenswet was right back to chatting it up with his fellow DCU staples.
A lot has been made of this actor’s casting as the Man of Tomorrow. In almost every way, Corenswet has lived up to the ideals of Superman. You knew when something like this took off on the Internet, fans would flock to point out yet another example of him being like Clark Kent.
But, at the same time, this incident barely had the chance to even register for Alcock. After all, it’s her movie premiere for Supergirl. She should probably be able to enjoy it without strange interactions with paparazzi.

The marketing for Supergirl has not shied away from the fact that Kara Zor-El is so different from her cousin. Yeah, you get from the trailers that Superman is in the movie. But his cousin has a lot of differences that separate him from how Alcock’s character behaves as a hero. That’s mostly by design!
Entertainment Weekly talked to director Craig Gillespie about the differences between Superman and Supergirl in the new film. Unsurprisingly, he had a lot to say about how each of these Kryptonians approach life. And, how that informs their way of fighting crime and solving problems.
“They have such different upbringings,” Gillespie explained. “Superman hasn’t gone through trauma. He came from a very loving family and was almost groomed to be in this role, whereas Supergirl has been through trauma and the role’s kind of being pushed upon her at a later age and she’s having to adjust to that.”
“Even though they’re cousins, you get this almost older-sibling dynamic, and that can be adversarial at times,” the director added. “He’s the gentle guy that wants to reach out and be patient, and she’s having to find a way and find herself.”
How Is Supergirl?
A lot of people are digging Alcock’s first solo entry as the character. Our Rachel Leishman caught the film twice now and says that a lot of fans are going to be excited by how big of a swing this movie is.
“SUPERGIRL is everything I wanted it to be. Girls can be messy and that rules! Kara isn’t her cousin and I really loved how this movie makes that clear,” Leishman argues. “She’s a different kind of hero and perfect in every way.”
She continued, “Also, almost more importantly, Supergirl/Kara represents the kind of girl who would do anything for those she loves, including her pet. I related to her in the sense that Krypto is her family and she’ll stop at nothing for him. Girls who love their pets are strong as hell!”
